I suppose you are asking procedure for urinary catheterization. Important things to know prior to the procedure are the basic anatomy of the urinary system, knowledge on antiseptic and aseptic techniques, catheter insertion techniques and catheter care.
Prepare the catheterization set or the basic things would include appropriate catheter, sterile gloves, aseptic swab, lubricant jelly,(syringe,5-10 my sterile solution, urine bag, tapes if it is indwelling catheter, ), and a clean reservoir.
The urinarysystem is a sterile system so utmost care should be observed to avoid infection. The perineal area may need to be washed with soap and warm water.
To perform the procedure check out the easy steps from this link:

Catheterization of what? I promise, the catheterization of the urinary bladder is somewhat different from the catheterization of the coronary arteries.

There are so many tings you can stick a catheter into. Veins (peripheral and central), urethra/bladder, arteries... pretty much any tubular structure.
Be more specific!
For Foley catheter insertion:
Put on sterile gloves.
Clean it off.
Lube it up.
Stick it in until urine flows into the tubing.
Inflate the balloon.
Ta-da!
