I was wondering the same thing. Put them in the same vehicle. Street legal vehicle, I would say F1. It would be fun to see. Give them both a Corvette Z06 and a Ferrari Enzo or F430 and let them go at it. 2 races, one with the Chevy's and one with the Ferrari's

F1 drivers are some of the most fit sons of guns out there. Have you seen their work out schedule? Its insane how well they prepare. I cant speak for Nascar because I dont follow it.

Honestly, if you put the best that Nascar has to offer vs. the best that F1 has to offer then I would honestly say F1.

The drivers with the biggest balls are WRC drivers. No competition. Sorry, but driving on a dirt/snow road by a cliff while trying to get the fastest time is not something I would try.

Driving 190-200 MPH is something I would try, didnt say I would achive it, but I would try.

Wow, Computers race the car in F1. What a bunch of ignorant answers. F1 starts from a stop, good luck to Nascar on that one.

Crunch, you are the worst. Montoya's record is how F1 would do against Nascar? Wow, you are not too bright. Who the hell ever said Montoya is the best that F1 had? Best thing Montoya ever did is leave the spot open for Hamilton.

Every driver that has driven both series agrees Nascar is harder. Here is what the latest said a couple of weeks ago. Max Papis..... Just two weeks ago in an interview after the Watkins Glen race, Italian-born Max Papis mirrored the comments made by Ambrose. "These guys are for sure among the top drivers in the world," Papis stated. "If anyone ever again says to me that NASCAR guys can't drive road courses, I will tell them to shut up." The comments made by these two men bring to the forefront something that seems to be lost on a good portion of the drivers in the sport. It's the fact that what some consider a mundane weekend task is something that only 43 drivers out of the countless others in the world get to do. Road course champions have been racing in Nascar road courses for 20 years yet not one has won a cup road race. Montoya won one because he did not stop for fuel when the ten cars in front of him did. He is very good but has not yet passed anyone on the track for a win. When he finally does after more than 3 years will that make F-1 drivers better?

Well, the only time NASCAR and F1 Drivers have come head to head is in December at the race in France. F1 Drivers have a huge advantage in this event due to the fact they get there days before the event and have time to practice. The NASCAR Drivers have to race from the banquet in NYC to catch a flight to Paris and make it just in time for the start of the event.

With that said; since the event has taken place Jeff Gordon has won one and Coultard has won one. A majority of the time it is the WRC Drivers that win this event; and no suprise, the track and cars seem to suit their style of Driving.

In crossing over; No NASCAR (full time) Driver has crossed over to F1. Only two people have ever won both a NASCAR and an F1 event and that is Mario Andretti and of course Montoya. However of the Drivers who have crossed over from F1 to NASCAR; no one has made the transition successfully.

I love both Series and it is hard to judge which Drivers are better. Until someone from NASCAR makes an attempt at F1 we will never know which Drivers are better.

They are both extremely capable drivers. Its almost impossible to say which drivers are better. Drivers like Gordon and Stewart are probably Nascars best drivers especially in a open wheel driver. In F1 drivers like Alonso Raikkonen and Rosberg are probably capable of throwing a Cup Car around.

It depends on the style racing because they are Apples and Oranges. Both present completely different challenges like Stock Cars are heavy off balance and run and sustained speeds. While F1 is extremely high speed road racing but have sophisticated electronics in the car.

But to answer your question I think they are mostly on a equal playing field. But Nascar drivers like Gordon and Stewart probably would win just cause the amount of experience they have under thier belts with various cars while F1 drivers are mostly just cut their teeth up on the road courses. But I also think F1 drivers are more then qualified and capable of driving a cup car but its just experience that would hurt them if against say just a Gordon or Stewart.

One more thing Montoya was hardly considered to be a elite F1 driver while he was in F1 never won a championship and the only real accomplishment was winning Monaco

First off the track and the car does make a difference if its on a road course tho f1 would win but on the oval nascar would. The car and track do make a huge difference because there both totally different styles of racing. U need to narrow down ur question my freind to get a good answer.

Its called Race of Champions. They race on a short rally course inside a soccer staduim.

The ROC Nations Cup is the only opportunity for racers from different countries and disciplines of motorsport to compete in equal machinery and on an equal track. Each nation is represented by one rally driver (or driver with off-road experience) and one circuit racer from leagues such as WRC, Formula 1, Nascar, CART, IRL, Le Mans, MotoGP, X-Games, etc.

Colin Edwards, Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson won the team event in 2002.

Whats with all the F1 fans bashing NASCAR? The top guys in NASCAR are very good road racers too. F1 has all kinds of driver aids with sequential gear boxes, traction control and that type of stuff. NASCAR doesnt have that. Cant they figure out how to accelerate without spinning the wheels?

Put both drivers in street cars, and the nascar boys would win.
F1 a computer drives the car.
Nascar its all driver and they know how read gauges. NO idiot lights or LCD screens in a Nascar.

Sure, the F1 drivers have time to work out because they dont have sponcors so they need something to do in the down time.

You want to talk fit, Motocross racers are the most fit.

It depends who is driving the formula one car or a nascar car. Like for example if Jeff Gordon drove a formula one car he still may win anyway like he does in his nextel cup car. but the possibilities are endless.

Since the track makes no difference, pick any oval on the list at the link and see how Montoya has done thus far.

So far, F1's record against NASCAR's best is 1 win and 16 losses.

By season's end I would expect the record to be no better than 2 wins vs. 34 losses.

As you can see, there is no need to speculate. Your hypothesis is tested weekly.
