my kids eat whatever I make for dinner.. they say sometimes it takes up to 10 time of presenting different foods to a toddler before he or she will try it. keep trying.. always make a plate for him and while the family is eating, emphasis on how good the food it... like, mmmmmm these mashed potatoes are soooooo yummy!!! sounds silly but it can work. but keep on trying and do not give him anything else like the fruit or milk until after he has eaten. you have to get this under control now before he is 5 and still doing it...

My first son was like that - he's still difficult and hes now 17 !!
All because of your exact same situation.
However I have a 21 month old now ,, and he eats anything I give him - same we have for tea.
I would suggest maybe stepping back a bit, say mixing 3 veg's and sausages (cut up) or other meat. Mix all together and put gravy or depending on the meat/dish/ or fish, a white sauce or cheese sauce, this way he'll get back to eating vege's and meat.
Don't give in - that's what I did for my first son.
I won't take NO for an answer on my 21 month old and he's never been a problem
Maybe also feed him yourself - I don't know about your son if he handles a fork well or not, but if you want him eating, may be best if you feed him until he gets back into this habit of eating proper meals.
I wish you luck - these are the trying times ... terrible twos LOL

You've gotten some great suggestions already, so I will concur with some.
For certain, eat your meals together and serve your son the same things you have on your plate. It would be great if you could include at least one thing that you know he will eat, but put a bit of everything on his plate.
Cut up his food so he can pierce it easily with a fork...he should be using utensils by now. If it will help him eat more, go ahead & feed him. Sometimes my daughter wants a break from independence and asks me to feed her.
Be consistent...kids this age need routine. They also are really into imitating adult behavior. Thus, the importance of dining together. Just keep presenting that variety of foods and he will eventually expand his repertoire.
Milk with a meal is good. Children need mil's calcium and water is the only other viable option in my home for children. As someone else mentioned, he should be drinking from a cup now...an open cup at the table with meals.
Best wishes~

My almost 2 year old eats everything we do pretty much. I won't give him takeaways though - we have one once a week, so then he gets maybe a jar.
Try him with other chicken products - obvously he likes the taste. I sympathise - my niece is now 5 and still screams the house down for nuggets and chips. thats all she will eat.

food of course. My 20 months yo son, eat rice, carrot, broccoli, fish (it can alternate to Chicken, meat or poultry), bean, pumpkin and tofu. All simmer in the steamer for two hours in the bowl just sprinkle a Little bit salt. When it's tender enough, you can serve it to your toddler. Believe me he will like it, it's taste so yummy...For addition just cook him a soup (corn chowder could be great)..My baby gain weight very fast and he's very healthy too..He eat fruit too (banana, avocado, oranges, cantaloupe)..Milk ?? He never miss..

you need to be firm and only offer the food you have cooked - and afterwards stop the milk, at 2 yrs old, there is no need for him to have milk so much (can start having semi-skimmed now)
will take a while, but he'll learn eventually

he eats everything we eat at dinner.
He actually hates chicken nuggets but likes baked chicken and any dish with chicken in it.
It's tough i know but stop giving into the nuggets,he won't go hungry for too long.
Why is he getting milk?Is it in a glass with his meal? otherwise I would stop this immediately too.
Good luck, don't give in you are the parent

Just make little plates of whatever you are eating. Don't force them to eat anything, but don't give in when they ask for something else. They will eat if they are hungry.

at his young age, he would appreciate more, solid liquids like quocker oats, pap or other cereals (mixed with milk). I think you should try to add these to his diet.
