My sister has always been a junk food addict as well as a Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew, and Coka Cola addict. If she were to cut these beverages and fast food outs of her weekly eating routines except for on special occasions would her weight decrease over time? Along with doing about 20 situps every few days and eating more fruits and healthier things. About how long would this routine take to cut about 10 pounds from a person?

It's possible, but it's hard to measure just how much of a difference it would make.

For example, a can of normal soda has about 120 calories in it. Let's assume she drinks 3 a day which is 360 calories. That's a good start and good amount to simply reduce what you're taking over the course of a day. Fried and fast foods are also loaded with fat and calories so the less you eat of these the better.

I would say to do more than 20 crunches, do them until they start to burn and continue until you can't do anymore. Then wait 48 hours and do them again. Continue doing them until you're able to do 100 in a row (it's honestly not as bad as it sounds).

And if she really wants to lose 10 pounds the best thing to do is some cardio. Work out for an hour a day, every day for 6 days and do light cardio on the 7th. Keep this up for a month, give up the sodas and junk food and she should be close to losing that 10 pounds in 4 weeks time.

It's harder than you think! Coca-cola has lots of cafiene, but most people don't know this, but Mountain Dew has more cafiene than Coca-cola! Just because it's not a cola doesn't mean that it's better for you. It sounds like she's hooked on cafiene. The problem isn't always what people think that it is. In this cazse, it sounds like she likes soda. In reality, she's hooked on cafiene. Stop the cafiene and she'll stop all three drinks, The fast food is also an additiction. You hear about fast food chains making people fat, almost every day. She's one of them. If she stops them all, she'll lose alot more than 10 pounds, and at a much quicker rate.

If she did that and added some sort of fitness activity three days a week she could lose 10 in a month. By fitness activity I mean something that rises her heart rate to 65% - 75% her max heart rate for 30 minutes or longer. To figure out what 65%-75% of her max heart rate is simply 220-age x 65%-75%. Good luck!

She could easily lose 10 pounds in 4-6 weeks if she cut out those soft drinks and fast foods. If she ate mostly fruits, vegetables, and whole grains for a month and did aerobic exercise (walked) for 30 minutes each day, she could lose ten pounds in six weeks safely.
