those amounts are BASE PAY only. it is based on paygarde and time in service. they are monthly amounts. you are paid twice monthly, on the 15th and the 1st. the 15th's paycheck covers the first of the month throught he 15th, the 1sts paycheck covers the s16th through the end of the month.
BAH is a housing allowance that varies from place toplace and whether or not you have dependents. since you state you are currentlysingle you will NOT be getting BAH until you either get married or get permission to live someplace other than the barracks(typically once you hit E4)
COLA is only payable when you have orders OCONUS. the SM gets one rate, and familymembers receive aa different rate, with children getting less than the spouse, who gets less than the SM.
you automatically get $400K in life insurance. the price is quite reasonable. spouses's coverage is also available and again, is quite reasonable.
There is no disability. if you are injured on the job, all of your medical needs directly relating to that condition are taken care of permamenently. if you retire, you will also qualify for regular health care on a space a basis at VA mnedical centers. while you are active duty, all of your medical needs will be taken care of, from routine check ups to emergency services.
soemnbody mentioned BAS was to feed yoru family. NOT TRUE. it is to feed the Servicemember ONLY, you do NOT get additional BAS when you get married. you only get BAS when meals and messing facilities are not available to you.. such as when you get permission to move out of the barracks. if you are deployed or living inthe barracks, you may or may not see BAS in your LES, but chances are you will also see a deduction for at least that amount that comes out because your meals are being rpovided..ecven if they are nothing but MREs.

BAH - depends on where you are stationed and with or without dependants. If you are not authorized to live off base, you will not receive BAH (basic, not barracks) Sometimes it's enough, sometimes it's not!
COLA - generally only for those stationed overseas, but there are a handful of US locations that get this.
Life Insurance - you can have up to $400,000 in coverage. But this is term insurance, so you should also have regular life insurance as well through an outside source.
You do not pay for disability insurance, like you would with a civilian employer.
BAS (Basic allowance for substance) - this is for food for YOU, NOT your family, if you are not issued a meal card. That's why it disappears when you go remote or long deployments. The gov't is feeding you, therefore you do not need money for meals.
All of your pay and allowances are added up, tax is figured, and the remainder is divided by 2, 1st and 15th.

We as Marines are paid on the 1st and 15th of each month. BAH and COLA are based upon rank and where you reside. If you are single, you will have housing provided for you and you are not entitled to BAH. Life insurance is provided if you desire to elect this. We are covered for $400,000 for around $26 a month, your spouse can be covered for $100,000 for about $5 a month. There is also BAS (Basic Allowance for Subistence) money to provide meals for yourself. If you are single and live in single type quarters, you are provided a meal card and you can eat in the mess hall. As far as the disability, there are many variables that go into this and each person is different. We do have a disability system Yes. The BAH, BAS, and COLA are divided in two and paid twice a month. Hope this answers the question.

The pay charts are for the MONTH. You are paid twice a month on the 1st and the 15th. Your pay (after taxes and any allotments you have set up) will be split into two and given to you on those dates. As a Married Soldier you will get Base pay, BAH and BAS BAH is based on marital status, rank and duty station zip code. BAS is a set amount. Base pay is a set amount and is based on rank and time in service. An E3 with less than 2 years (what you will be at) gets $1587.90 a MONTH plus BAH and BAS. If you're joining for the money do us all a favor and don't. If you can find a job at home to gives you $1500 or more in base pay, $ 270.00 for food, pay you anywhere between $600 and $1200.00 to help you cover your rent and gives you medical then go do that. Being Military doesn't guarantee you car loans nor a house loan for that matter. You still have to maintain your credit, have any required down payment and get credit from banks/lenders for those things. The VA looks at your credit when they approve the amount they will give you just like any other loan company does.

You get your Base pay monthly. Either half on 1 and 15 or all once a month. BAH depends on Rank/location/with or without dependents. COLA depends on location and number of dependents (so make sure you alert finance of marriage/children right away so they can update your info and adjust COLA accordingly) to clarify MZ's comment. You get COLA if you are stationed in a location which allows for it mostly overseas, however there are several CONUS location where you receive this as well. It doesn't matter if you live off post or on post you still get the COLA.
SGLI is taken out monthly as well as dependent insurance (which is a nominal amount)
Disability is determined if you get discharged on a for medical reasons and then there is a process to determine IF you qualify for disability and if yes then how much you will receive. A friend of mine's husband chaptered out medically and took a lump sum pay out however he won't be eligible for VA pay or benefits for the next 7 years

you will get paid twice in a mos always 1st and the 15th. Bah stands for basic allowance for housing you wont get paid extra for staying in the barracks, cola dont matter to you unless you live out of the base. Tri-care or life insurance dont sweat it , and disability i dont where you get that from but we dont pay disability. every rank get paid different i dont know what chart you reading i saw a difference how much i made when i was an e-1 when i get 367 dollars every 1st and the 15th and now as an e-5 i get 2300. The pay is like this they pay you Basic pay which is how much you get by rank the BAH and Cola dont stress yourself about that unless your married. If you heard about getting paid extra while in the barracks thats a myth unless you tad out of your duty station for 3 mos depending on mission orientation. If you want to research that just go search dfas it has articles and description on how we get paid in the military.

You get paid the stated amount "per month". that will break down into two paychecks, which you will get on the 1st and 15th of every month.
BAH= Basic Allowance for Housing...amount varies depending on where you are stationed.(RENT MONEY) you pay nothing to get this.
COLA, you get it if you are stationed overseas. you pay nothing to get this.
Life Insurance.....$400,000....up from $250,000 (doesn't matter if you are married or not, you still have life insurance) you don't hardly pay anything for this.
Disability depends on what disability you have, and long you served before being discharged from the military.
Health Insurance: free to you and family(includes meds)
Dental Insurance: free to you, around $25/mon for your fam.
you also get BAS if you are married. it's an allowance for food for your family, however, if you are deployed, they take this money away because the military is feeding you. But, you will get Family Seperation Allowance, which is less than BAS. (you actually get less money deployed.....sometimes)
you could get iminent danger pay, flight deck pay(navy), hazardous duty pay, and there are more different pays you can receive depending on your job. when you are deployed in certain areas around the world, you will get paid tax-free.
I hope this helps you out!

The stated amount is the monthly amount and you have the option of receiving in two checks a month or two.
Life insurance is a deduction based on how much you are insured for. Best rates I know of.
All the rest are determined by location and/or location.
