Second part to the question I asked before....so ok I am pretty sure that the ER sends a report to my regular dr. about my visit. While I was there at the ER the doctor told me that the amount of painkillers I take per day need to be increased. But when I approached this subject with my doctor she just told me to go to pain management and disregarded the fact that the amount prescribed wasn't enough for the pain I have. Also, I had been previously prescribed Percocet at the ER a few months back for the same issue and that worked way better than the med I am on now which is Vicodin. How can I possible get my doctor to give me Percocet since I already know it works well seeing as she didn't even want to up my dose. Again, even the ER doctor said I should be taking more a day, so he clearly seen that my pain is that severe. Please help with any suggestions that you may have to get my Dr. to see eye to eye with me on my pain issue and what med works best. Any help is grea

I can tell you right now what most of your problem is with your doctor. They get all kinds of red flags when a patient goes to them and asks for a specific prescription, because there are many people who use these doctors to acquire pain medication to get high. Unfortunately docs have to be very careful these days not only because they get conned, but because they are distributing controlled substances that are very addictive and dangerous if not taken at the right dosage.

I gotta tell ya, it's troubling that you don't mention your source of pain, most people will say what their condition is so that the right help can be given.
If your pain is that extreme and you have documentation of it then you should go to pain management then you won't be confronted with all this drama and you can just focus on getting better.

What kind of pain are you having and why do you keep going to the ER? I'm NOT giving you $hit about it.....I take pain pills, too. But, these Dr.'s really keep track of how strong and how many pills they'll prescribe. Remember...they have their own asses to cover. You just need to find a doc who is more liberal about writing scripts.
Another thing is, if you go in and rattle off all these drugs by name...it looks as if you're doing it for recreation.
Good luck!

Your doctor is hesitant to increase the pain meds because they are addictive and you end up with two problems rather than one as a result of taking the pain meds.

Percoset is highly addictive so your doctor might be very wary of giving you more despite the fact that it worked.

You don't say what the pain is caused by so it's difficult to discuss other options that are healthier.

if possible get a different dr. or just take her advice and go to a pain management dr. tell him on what medicine you are on at the moment and then tell him how it is not working.
you should also mention that percocet helped you. after his diagnosis he might give you the medicine that really helps you.
i hope you get better and if you need a great pain management doctor just tell me. even other doctors go see him for their pain.

do NOT take too many vicodin. the tylenol will send you into fulminent liver failure and kill you without a transplant. then the pain really starts.
