You folks don't seem to get it..... Commerce DEPENDS upon this cheap labor force and always has. The governments are NOT going to impede these people... Our economy would come to a halt. Businesses NEED these people.....and the government knows it.
The ONLY thing that will be done is amnesty - sooner or later, one way or the other...it has ALWAYS been thus.

Actually I did I saw that story on MSNBC,its been a while and I had not head of anything else about that story but when I first heard it I could not believe it myself even the state governments are getting stupid.
That is a good question as to what is going on with our government all you have to look too is the White House and you got your answer.
As for the Illinois governor and the House and Senate, there I would say the Republican Governor has a lot to do with it do you see him getting re-elected I don't.

You ask what's going on with the government that they won't do anything - a great question. Here's the answer:
Hispanics are the fastest growing (by far) voting group in the US. Neither party wants to offend them and lose their votes. Furthermore, the democrats have more liberal ideas about immigration and so won't do anything, and the republicans are pro-big business and don't want to hurt businesses and so won't do anything.
You're going to get a few answers from brain-dead partisans saying it's all one party's fault. It's both of their faults.
Besides, as they say in California, if we don't give licenses to illegals, how are they going to be able to drive to rich folks' houses and take care of their gardens? ;)

Illinois has always been pro illegal. Obama voted to give them SS benefits when he was serving here. I write my representatives to tell them dont pass this bill. They are here and a large problem is caused by them driving without a license or insurance. I keep writing and emailing my governor also. If they pass this bill they will be voted out.

In order to halt this trend, start a major letter writing campaign in your respective states. Also, follow up with calls. If anyone running for office supports privileges for illegals, set out to campaign against them like Moveon.org does. If you hold the politicians feet to the fire you can stop this. Also, there is on the state level RECALL petitions to recall elected politicians and run someone else in their place. People did it in the 60's and it worked! Good luck and God Bless!

Actually, to someone above, it hasn't happened in California. Due to the REAL ID act and terrorism our generally useless (on this topic) Governator has repeatedly vetoed it. It comes back every year, mind you.
I will say the Families of 911 sued one state and overturned their license for illegals, I think it was Maryland, not sure.

Both our state and federal legislators seem to have lost the concept of representing American citizens. The majority no longer rules in their minds. Their egos have gotten so big (to go along with their outrageous pay, benefits and retirement) they believe they are invincible.

I say give them a license if they are working, even illegally. At least they are working and doing something. I say if you don't want to work and scam and get welfare, food stamps, wic, etc. take their license away. Oh that's right.... they all can have 10 kids and no jobs but drive a Benz....yes, let's keep sending our tax dollars to these people

It already happened in California, Arizona and several other states.
It's nuts.
They should at least make it a law to have car insurance in order to get a license. If you get in an accident in CA, they go back across the border, and you're still with a huge insurance rate hike.

The government wants it's way. The federal gov't didn't get it.
The good folks in Illinois need to put as much heat on their state government, write, call, fax, email, etc and demand they do NOT pass that bill.
