Can I renew my ID? I thought I wasnt covered anymore but when I went to get my medicine Tricare covered it. My mom doesnt know...my stepmom says no (but she married into the military life and doesnt really know ****), and my dad avoids the question...
-I am 19 years old.
-My dad is active Navy and my parents are divorced.
-I live in Atlanta with my Grandparents because im going to a 2 year college here. I am a full time student and I work part time.

If I Can... What steps do i need to take in order to get it and where do I go because everyone keeps telling me that the Atlanta NAS is shut down.

Sounds like the only way to get Tricare and your ID renewed is by joining the military.

Any other way would appear to be fraud. You're 18 and no longer a 'dependent' of your active duty father.

Be respectful of your stepmother.

Being a student, you are entitled to an ID card. But your dad has to go with you to get it or has to go and sign papers for you to get it renewed. Most any military base and some reserve bases can also. Your dad will have to find this out. My twins are 20 and their dad retired Navy and we just had theirs renewed.

As long as you're in college, you can have your military ID card until the age of 21. The only way you can renew your ID card is through your father. NAS Atlanta is closing due to BRAC. The same goes for Ft McPherson and Ft Gilliam. They're on the BRAC too.

If you are a dependant of your father and a full time student, you are still covered, up to the age of 23 I belive. You need to go to the nearest naval base and go to the ID card section of the admin building, they'll give you a new ID there.

Abouch66 is indeed correct. You're covered til 23 simply because you're in college hon.

If you're in Atlanta, you can go to ANY post and get it renewed.

because you are a full time college student, you are covered until you are 23. your father must sign a form giving you permission to renew your ID, especially if the divorce decree has him being responsible for your helath care.
