So I was thinking, is all Christian music really Christian? Can we associate musical genres such as rock, punk, ska, metal, r&b, and even pop with Christianity?
What do u guys think?

I think the one who sings a christian song should be a christian! cause anyone might sing christian music just to make money but, i think you have to be a christian to sing real christian music! They have to mean and feel what they are singing, for it to be real !! A truly saved person is truly singing and worshipping God in their Music ! Thats the kind i listen too!

i find meanings in many songs that strengthen my relationship with God. for instance, Jesus Walks by Kanye West is such an amazing song to me in most aspects. and it has such an amazing reflection on the struggle of the 'lost sheep' in the verse where he says "I want to talk to God but I'm afraid because we ain't talked in so long". such a good song! but i think labeling songs Christian could deter some from listening to the song (as most CCM tends to be kinda cheesy in my opinion). i like a lot of the mainstream music, but it just relies on the message i find within the song. God Bless!

Yes, I believe that the genres are good to reach people who would not be reached through a certain type of music. For example, I like all types of music, but I perfer hip-hop and rock.

I guess that fundamentalists believe that CCM is the "devil's music" since pop/rock music is usually associated with "bad stuff"

I'm amazed that what was once considered "devil music" because of the drums, driving beat and fuzz guitar is now the norm in christian music. Funny how times change.

To me music is just a tool. It can be used for good or evil. Like a hammer which could be used to kill someone or build a house for someone. Its all in how its used. Just my opinion.
