As for I am Christian, I do belive in a afterlife. If you commit a 'mortal' sin (kill somebody or anything really bad you commited), you will go to hell with the devil. Which will not be fun. But if you have a pretty good life and go to confession you will go to heaven with God, Jesus, Blessed Mother and have a GREAT afterlife. Nothing bad can happen to you unless you WANT it. For example: you do not have to work, you could be rich, perfectly healthy (unless you want otherwise), never a chance of being robbed or murdered, those kinds of things. So when you are on Earth you should be as good as possible and if you do do a 'vinel' sin (not bad, just go to confession) go to confession and confess it. God protects everybody from the Devil.

Dear Sensei,
My thoughts about the "afterlife" run along these lines: If there is no after life, then I need to live my life to the fullest most conscious level possible now.
If there is an after life: then I need to live my life to my fullest most conscious level now.
Either we die, and become part of everything, on every level, the tangible and intangible or the tangible part becomes part of the physical cosmos, and the intangible part, what ever part that is, goes on. If it goes on, then I see this life like a grade in school. We have to pass this grade, to get to the next. Maybe before we were born we knew what grade we were in, but now, we have forgotten. :-)

For most of us, the 'afterlife' is after we have been resurrected and given another chance at earthly life, breathing.
(Psalm 37:9) For evildoers themselves will be cut off, But those hoping in Jehovah are the ones that will possess the earth.
(Psalm 37:11) But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.
(Psalm 37:29) The righteous themselves will possess the earth, And they will reside forever upon it.
(Psalm 37:34) Hope in Jehovah and keep his way, And he will exalt you to take possession of the earth. When the wicked ones are cut off, you will see [it].

There's no evidence for an afterlife and lots of evidence that there is no separate "soul" outside the brain.
The concept of the afterlife is simply wishful thinking.

Well, that depends on what you want to know. I believe we all re-incarnate because how arrogant is it to think our souls could learn all there is to know about the universe in one life-time? When we die we spend time in a rest place (Devachan) where all our positive learning is 'uploaded' to our higher self, and then we choose the challenges to face, lessons to learn in the next life, before of course moving onto the next life. Eventually, once our soul is mature enough we will rid ourselves of our physical form and ascend to the next plane of existence, and eventually onto the next round of evolution in the universe.
