Police have appealed to the public for information about the green Jeep used in the terrorist attack which had the registration L808 RDT. Now 808 must jolt someone's mind.

Hi, Bob,

The two answerers who have already answered you seem to have grabbed the wrong end of the Jeep...

...so for any others who may read this...Bob S (no relation) is saying that the police need information about the whereabouts of this vehicle in the hours and days leading up to the attack on the airport.

It is quite obvious that the registration number will have been identified immediately with the DVLA and that the police will alreay know who that number was registered to and will have been to see the registered owner.

It is entirely possible, of course, that the number is either falsely attached to the vehicle used in the attack, or was stolen and then used.

Terrorists may act stupidly, thoughtlessly and without regard to other's lives, but they are hardly going to be stupid enough to use a vehicle registered to one of them...now do YOU think that's likely? I thought not.

So in answer to Bob S's question...does anyone remember seeing the jeep in the hours and days preceding this attack? If so please contact the police and let them know where.

Prompt responses may lead to these terrorists being apprehended and taken from our streets and being rehoused in a secure place for many years to come.

Thank you, Bob S, for asking the question,

BobSpain

I hope that every company that has any kind of records about vehicles that have been to their property, such as auto rental places, auto repair places, etc. will be searching their records to see if that registration # showed up any place, and if so, pass the info onto their local police.

Are all cameras in the country interconnected, or do private enterprises have their own systems?

When the cameras are digitbal, there is facial recognition software that can be run to identify any place some person shows up, but how about software to locate license plates then match them with some data base of plates the police are interested in. Sounds like something worth developing and making available for download for free from police web sites.

I agree with Bob. As one who can hardly remember his own car number at times I can see the problem but some people seem to remember the number of cars parked for any length
of time outside their house or for some other reason. A number 808n is slightly eye catching

Bob, it's good you have bought this to a wider audience, the police need all the input they can get.

Bob Spain; a good response but a bit OTT don't you think.

To the people you cited the DVLD, of course they have the information but it is unlikely to be relevant. Would you use your own car to commit a crime?

2 million cameras in that city and they don't have the perpetrator on video? The vehicle is registered and the have the number and a description of it, as well as the name of the person it is registered t0 yet they need the publics help to track this person down.Sounds strange to me.
