I'm going through a lot in my life right now. I feel like I'm only hanging on by a thread sometimes. I can't kid myself, I know I'm in need of some help. Are there any other options? My family is unable to provide finacial help and cannot afford it myself. I live in Ontario, Canada if that information is useful.

Find a university that trains therapists. There are often programs in which you can see a student therapist for low or no cost. Because the student therapists are under guidance and review by experienced therapists, you are still able to get quality help at very low rates.

There are message boards that can help to a degree and have you asked your paster, minister, or religious leader. Many religious leaders will do some pastoral counselling and they might head you toward some groups that might help too. Alcoholics Annonymous has helped create other groups that can help with many problems and give support. You may have to search but with some work, you can find some support and a good sound advisor.

I can't afford it either. I just hobble along as best I can by myself. Unfortunately, as far as I have been able to find, if you aren't covered for mental health by hour health care plan, there aren't a lot of options. Even the places that have a sliding scale rate, the "low" end of the scale is not that low, even that is not affordable.

I thought Canada had the best health system in North America?

Here in America we can get free healthcare from Public Aid. If you can't pay, you don't have to, and if you can pay, then you should. That's how to make sure that everyone gets taken care of.
