Do you sleep with your mouth open? This can dry out the mouth and leave a funny taste because the washing action of the saliva slows down at night and more so if you are a "mouth breather". It's the bacteria in your mouth not being washed away that can cause the odour/taste. The other possibility is gastro-intestinal reflux? Most people have "morning" breath so just ensure you brush thoroughly before bed & floss too (dont forget to brush your tongue - gently though or you'll damage your taste buds) and brush when you wake up. Try a mouthwash if you like. Also keep your fluids up.

Try using some anti-bacterial stuff before bed and always make sure you brush your teeth and floss them before going to bed at night.

It might also be a good idea to go see your dentist because you might need to have a professional clean, or something - they could also give you some tips how to stop the taste.

Also I find that if I stop eating around 7pm, and only drink water and clean my teeth at 7pm-ish, than I don't have a bad taste in the morning.

But it is really common, so don't stress. :)

Be sure you not only brush your teeth but also brush your tongue and floss at bedtime. You may also be having sinus problems that contribute to the problem. I would advise a visit to your dentist for an exam and cleaning and a better answer.

Try brushing/scraping your tongue and rinsing with mouthwash before going to bed.

Probably because all the bacteria builds up in your mouth all night.

Do you smoke? Smoking can cause this... If not then make sure you clean your tongue as well, thats where a LOT of bacteria are.
