What about the unfortunate women who are raped? They are punished enough knowing that they carry the child of a rapist. They have been violated, then have to face the horrific desision of letting the child live, and be stared in the face everyday by the child of a rapist, or do they abort it and feel guilty for the rest of their lives?

Steve N, read the flaming question. Are you trying to imply that women choose to get raped?

Stop with this everything for a reason sh!te!!!! Do you really think that a raped woman will go 'oh, well. God did it for a reason, coz he's so nice' or do you think she'd break down into tears and phone the cops because she's been violated.

The Christians don't care about the woman that was raped, they only care about the blastocyst in her abdomen. They think the woman should just learn to deal with it and want to force her to take responsibility for something that she didn't want in the first place and gives her constant nightmares.

I know (well, not personally, I can only imagine) how bad being raped can be and it would be a really scary and weird situation getting pregnant from the act, but I don't think abortion is right in any situation. I've always held these views, but ever since I became a mother, I am even more convinced that it is wrong.
No matter the situation and even though it may be hard to imagine, having a baby is a blessing and a miracle. Babies are so helpless and so Innocent and they look to us for everything. It's not the baby's (or GOD's) fault that the woman was raped (and I in no way imply that it was the woman's fault...the rapist is at fault here. He has free will and he chose to do it). And it's not a "horrific decision" to let the baby live...any woman can put the baby up for adoption. Their are hundreds of families that are wanting to adopt because they can't have babies of their own. So why not take a horrible act and turn it into something good by allowing a family that actually wants a baby to have him/her.
I'm sorry that this happened to your friend. My prayers are with her and I hope she can find peace and heal from this.

You know, a lot of people have done a lot of things wrong. It is life...many people never get punished. I do believe there will come a day when everyone will be held accountable for their actions. I don't believe that abortion is an option. I believe that a child is innocent and deserves to live. I have thought about this before. There are so many people that can't have children. That is my opinion.***someone one stated that because some people are pro-life, that we don't believe women are human. I am a woman and I think you should let God be in charge of life or death*** Life is always going to happen, sometimes bad things happen to good people. It is all about how you cope with it. No one ever said it was going to be easy...it isn't, but why punish an innocent child.

I am a Christian who does care about women who have been raped- it is a horrible thing-there is one choice that no one has mentioned as yet- about adoption. I can understand how hard it would be to carry a child that was conceived this way, however, the baby is the innocent party here- the one who deserves punishment is the rapist. My adopted son's birth mom was date raped- and she loved her child enough not to abort, just because the act of conception was not love. Abortion is wrong- free will= was given to us, however that does not mean we should freely make bad choices, and then say it is ok. NO NO NO NO. In Deut. God says-
"do not punish the child for the sins of the father".

That is something that should only be answered by the woman and her religious leader who hopefully is very understanding. Most religious people including myself think the rape and incest are exceptions to having an abortion. I however think it is a very individual thing not to be taken lightly by the woman who has to make the decision. All of the options should be gone over with her best health and spiritual well being taken into consideration. Pray for her it will help.

You forgot the option of adoption..
I am Pro-Choice I belief all women have the right to abortion if they so choose regardless of what lead to the pregnancy ..
I agree with a gestational limitation it's 12 weeks now (Ideally I would like to see 15 weeks but 12 is a great compromise I am relatively happy with)
I believe a woman should think hard before having an abortion and weigh all her options wisely but ultimately it is each womans choice whether or not she has an abortion..
Not all women have guilt after an abortion many feel freed of a burden..
Addition
To Quella Bella..yes I have become pregnant due to a rape.. What choice do you think I made?
To Allison S .. So god knew the man who raped me would break into my house and rape me for nearly 5 hours at knife point while threatening to kill my children (ages 2 and 5 at the time) who were sleeping in the next room..
Nice god you have glad he was looking out on that one.. Where do I send the "Thank You" card.. Do you think Hallmark makes an appropriate card?

I was just wondering what the statistics are. How many abortions are a result of rape? I know it does happen and I feel great compassion for these women. I know of a few people who are the result of rape..James Robinson (Pastor) , Ethel Waters (singer in Billy Graham Revivals). God has a purpose and can bring good from that which was meant for evil.

That's a very personel choice someone would have to make. If I was ever in a situation like that (god forbid) I would abort the child. I believe abortion should be legal and every women should be able to have the choice to keep or abort her child, under any circumstance.

Dellefuss, Christians can be very cruel sometimes. They don't care about women who are raped. They would rather shove their beliefs in peoples faces and say 'abortion is wrong no matter what' than try to emphasize with a woman who has been raped. They care more about unborn fetuses than they care about the rights of an actual person.
