I want to get a tattoo before I go off to college, but my parents can't see it. Where do you suggest I get my first tattoo and what do you think it should be? I was thinking in my pelvic region, my first initial, some words or something...
Any suggestions?

Just the idea that you want to cover it up tells me you are probably not ready for a tattoo. Most likely....however don't embark on getting a tattoo for the wrong reasons. Tattoo is not mutilating your body, for everyone who goes to these answer boards and says that don't even understand what it is to be an artist or better yet passionate too the point where you want to express a life long sentiment.
Most people cannot understand that nowadays people are living an ever more temporary lifestyle and for the short term ie. marriage, jobs etc. so why should you expect them to understand a committment like this one
However some things are for life such as religion and it isn't about wrinkles or about coolness i am sure it would be hard to disagree that a person getting a religious symbol tattoo is doing it for the cool look and is more just practicing his devoutness.
I would suggest you talk to your parents about the tattoo you might be surprised at their insights and if you are going off the college then don't worry there will be plenty of opppourtunities to get a tattoo later

Wait until you're absolutely sure you've found something you love, that you want to be on your body forever. Don't just get a tattoo for the sake of getting one. Look long and hard for a design you LOVE- something meaningful and unusual that you will still be proud of, even when you are old and wrinkled.
As for where to get it, that depends. Do you want to have children someday? Then go for somewhere like the back of your neck, where you can hide it under your hair, or on your hip. If you don't ever want to have kids, you can get it on your lower stomach like I did.
But I reccomend you tell your parents about it anyway. My mother hated tattoos and thought they were only for criminals, but I told her what I planned before I got mine and showed it to her afterward, and she decided it wasn't so bad, since it was a classy design in a discreet place. They may just surprise you, especially if you show maturity about it by researching tattoo shops to make sure they follow all safety precautions and use experienced artists. Give them a little credit. They may not be as unreasonable about it as you think.

Pelvic is a best place to get it since you arent showing off like that most of the time. Just make sure that when you wear a bikini it covers it. Unless you want it to be seen.

Don't get a tattoo. It will be wicked awesome for about 2 weeks. Then it will just be awesome. Then after a few months it will just be cool. After a year it will just be there. Eventually it will be lame and then wicked lame. But you'll be stuck with it. Which will make you wicked lame. I'm tellin' ya' don't do it.

tattoos are permanent and shouldnt be something u get an idea from from strangers. honesty is best even if your parents dont agree with your decision, explain that you're an adult and its your decision and body. they should respect you more bc you were adult about the situation and told them instead of going behind their backs like kids do.

Try concealer! If you are not on the cheap talk over with your nearby ULTA or Sephora to buy the Kat Von D concealer, and it must do the trick. If you desire a inexpensive option acquire the tough sweet glamoflauge at Wal Mart.

OMG! I am doing the same thing believe it or not! I would go for butt, waist line or pelvic area like you said. I just got mines last week! it was a butterfly. I am not sure what you like but a favorite character or animal I heard is always nice.

Oh, you could get a HUGE bright red bull on your breast positioned with his nose in the center so you can go back for a nipple ring. It will look like the bull has a nose ring. That would be so attractive!
Better yet, don't do anything. Then you won't have to lie and try to hide it from your parents. Have you thought about what that tattoo is going to look like in 40 years when your skin sags? You can't wash it off when you're done making a point. Further, the thought of some sleazy old guy touching your private region and the risk of infection should have some impact on your decision. If you're smart enough for college, you should be wise enough to think about these things before mutilating your body on a whim. THINK!

tatoos are SO cheasy and ull regret it later. imagine ur self a grandparetn with words of ur pelvice
