I have an old house est. 1939, and this year has been the year of flooding and moths. I have tried moth balls and it doesn't work. My house is attracting moths like crazy, how can I rid of them, but do it without any harsh chemicals or anything harsh?

well if you have a pet or somethimg you should make sure the food is sealed tightly and clean out your pets cages. because i use to have the same problem but we sealed up pet food and the moths went away well after a while.

Store clothes in a cedar chest, or add some cedar chips. Moths don’t like cedar chips, blocks or oil.
Keep your house clean. Avoid any standing water.
Try placing peppermint gum in your pantry. Simply unwrap the gum and set it on the wrapper on the shelf.
Place bay leaves in your cabinets. You can also place them in bags of flour or tape them inside boxes of cereal.
Peppercorns or cloves might also keep moths away.
Place a Tonka bean, available at most herbal stores, in a small cotton bag to repel the moths.
Use lavender sachets or soak cotton balls with lavender oil and place them where you previously found moths.
If you work with dried flowers, freeze them for a day before allowing them in your home.
Empty vacuum cleaner bags frequently. They can contain moths, which can eat right through the bags.
If your house has any nearby bird or rodent nests which are empty, destroy them. Moths are attracted to these empty nests.

Well as you know harsh is relative. Yellow globe lights do not attract moths. A bud zapper will take care of a lot outside and feed your frogs at the same time.
I'm working on a "clean" neutron device that will kill everything within a 10 mile radius without otherwise affecting the ecological balance.

A good natural, safe, and effective remedy to keep moths away is cedar.

Do you have candle in your house , if so ,you can light a candle in the house without you in .coz the moths like shining thing ,Oh you remember .only one candle and make sure safe.

Get some of the fly strips and hang them by a light bulb.They will come and land there for one last time.I use them for flies in my kitchen.I mean they catch the flies.Then just take down and toss out.be careful they are sticky.....

get fly screens or shut your windows & doors where the lights are or sit in the dark its the light that attracts the flying moths

Keep your House SPOTLESS... -And use any "Green" Cleaners- that have alot of Citrus oils in them... Ants HATE Citrus..! It'll take about a month for the Ants to "get the Message..." But once they DO, they'll "move on..."- & leave the House to YOU ! :)

Aren't moths natural? Your house isn't. Getting rid of them isn't environmentally friendly.

Fabric softener sheets seem to repel almost anything. give it a try, if Cedar does not work.
