There are two types of love; grasping love and unconditional love.
Grasping love comes from the incorrect perception of reality that an object exists outside of yourself and can make you happy. This is a fundamentally incorrect view of reality. Whether that leads to 'hell' is a different topic.
Unconditional love is when there is no expectation from the object only *recognition* of yourself in that 'object'. The separation and expectation do not exist and since this love is our true nature it is 'the answer' as you put it.

I know one thing. If there is a hell, it is never a consequence of love. Love in honest and pure and always brings out the best, if it is truly love and not worship or lust or for other selfish gain.

I agree that it is Lust (a strong desire for) and not love of those material things. Love is selfless and lust is selfish. Love is caring for others first and then yourself. On the other hand, Lust puts yourself first at the emotional, financial, etc. expense of others.

Love is different than lust.. You lust for money and power and sex, but you love your friends, your family and God. Obviously, lust is a sin, and you go to hell because of lust, not love.
