The safest road to hell is the gradual one—the gentle slope, soft underfoot, without sudden turnings, without milestones, without signposts.
C. S. Lewis

For every American who believes he's going to Hell, there are 120 who believe they're going to Heaven. This optimism stands in stark contrast to Christ's words in Matthew 7:13-14: "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."

What would keep us out of Heaven is universal: "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). Sin separates us from a relationship with God (Isaiah 59:2). God is so holy that he cannot allow sin into his presence: "Your eyes are too pure to look on evil; you cannot tolerate wrong" (Habakkuk 1:13). Because we are sinners, we are not entitled to enter God's presence. We cannot enter Heaven as we are.

So Heaven is not our default destination. No one goes there automatically. Unless our sin problem is resolved, the only place we will go is our true default destination . . . Hell.

"You are never good enough!"

That's a lie of both the devil, and thoughtless believers in original sin.

No, people are not originally created to go to hell. God put us in corruptible bodies in a sinful world, but God did not create US dirty. We choose that ourselves, and we're fairly punished for it.

Yes, all people are sinners. What, because people just naturally suck, no matter what? No -- because they all sin, period. We have no idea how sinful we are, how constantly wrong we are before our merciful God.

IF... hypothetically... IF people did not sin, would they still be sinners, just for being human?

No, of course not. That's stupid. You're a sinner because you sin, not because you obey God.

1+1. Put it together. A person who sins = a sinner.

So, you naturally are "good enough" for heaven already. The point at which you stop being so is at the first intentional ungodly thing you ever do, since God allows no sin whatsoever to exist with him.

How else can I show it? Well, we've had some dead baby questions here in R&S... So, do little unbeliever babies who die go to hell?

Here's where many original sin adherents begin to break away. They insist on Jesus for the rest of us obvious sinners, of course, but... they allow for some possibility that, no, babies don't deserve hell... that yes, babies are "good enough" for heaven.

Jesus himself said he came not to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance -- they that are whole need no physician.

Anyway, clean or not, baby or sinner, we would have no power to escape death ourselves without the resurrection of Jesus. But as for cleansing our sins... we first need sins to cleanse.

...And they're really not hard to come by.

When you rebel against Christ even after a sure knowledge of him. That is the point of no return. However trusting in Christ is also a must to be saved. Jesus is very forgiving and loving he will except any one who truly tries to turn their life to him. However some sin's are of such consequence that you may have to pay a price for your sins even with his atonement. Take King David for example according to the scriptures he had to go to hell for the inequity he done but he received a promise from God that he would at some point be lifted out and receive glory in heaven.

We are not to look to ourselves to gain heaven, because we would never get there on our own merits. We were born into sin and deserve the punishment of eternal spiritual death. There will never be a point when we are good enough for heaven. We need to look beyond ourselves and to Our Savior Jesus who washed us clean by His sacrificial blood that He shed for us to go to Heaven. Only when we are washed clean by the blood of Jesus can we enter sinless Heaven and eternally be with a Holy God. Look up to Jesus and not to ourselves for Salvation.

There are a few steps to get to heaven. You Have to believe that Jesus Christ is your lord and died for your sins. Then You must confess your sins to God. Then You Should be Baptised. Then Yous should live a good serving life but if you mess up you can always ask God for forgiveness. If you have any wuestions feel free to e-mail me.

At the moment, NO ONE on the planet is "good enough" for heaven. Now without being saved by Jesus. When Jesus died on the cross he paid our sin debt with God. The bible says the "none go to the Father that do not acknowledge Jesus as Lord" That's why when you believe by faith that Jesus died for you and you ask him to be the Lord of YOUR life you become "saved" and God doesn't "see" your sin because you are now "covered" by the blood of Christ.
That doesn't mean you get to go out and "sin it up" over the weekend and ask for forgiveness on Monday morning.
When you repent of your sins, that means you're asking God how to live your life with purpose for HIM.
A good christian church, ie baptist, assembly of god...nondemoninational churches....they can answer more of your questions.
Bible: John 3:16 (chapter 3:verse 16)
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life".

God will never give up on you in this world since his mercy and love are infinite! Heaven is not earned, Heaven is an inheritance that we can have as part of God's family through the sacrament of Baptism. Yet, we have to remain faithful to God's family rules in order to be saved through Christ our LORD! God bless.

None of us are "good enough" for heaven. Every single human being on the face of the earth deserves to be condemned to hell, but because of God's grace (undeserved favour), he sent his only begotten son to pay the price for our sins so that we can be set free from this condemnation and be redeemed.
John 3:26 God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that who so ever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

...You are not good enough right now and never will be good enough...no one is:
...Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
...Isaiah 64:6: But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags, and we all do fade as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
...That's the bad news.
...Now the good news:
...Romans 5:8 - But God demonstrates His own love for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
...Acts 16:31 Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved.
...Galations 3:26: For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
...Jesus will save you and make you fit for Heaven.
