MacroMedia Flash player isn't working on my computer what should i do?

I have updated macromedia flash player and i still get "you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Macromedia's Flash Player" and i checked to see if it was off but it was already enabled does anyone have any ideas as to what i should do?

Open the Control Panel and, in Add or Remove Programs, uninstall the Flash player. Restart your computer and then go to the Adobe website, download the player and install it.
