I have been in the ministry for 30 plus years, so I am asking this as a Christian Pastor, Shepard, Leader, Counsel, what ever title you choose to use.

I Know I am going to catch flak for this but: Some of the questions on here “outline” like they are sincere. Then when you click to them, the question is really a nasty sexual question or remark.

Most of the time, the answers are just as nasty and sinful as the questions.

Now as a Christian and Pastor I really don’t care how non-Christians answer, but as a Christian and a Pastor it is my job and duty to call people who use the title of “Christian” to account.

1 Corinthians 5:9-13 (NLT)
9 When I wrote to you before, I told you not to associate with people who indulge in sexual sin. 10 But I wasn’t talking about unbelievers who indulge in sexual sin, or who are greedy or are swindlers or idol worshipers. You would have to leave this world to avoid people like that. 11 What I meant was that you are not to associate with anyone who claims to be a Christian yet indulges in sexual sin, or is greedy, or worships idols, or is abusive, or a drunkard, or a swindler. Don’t even eat with such people. 12 It isn’t my responsibility to judge outsiders, but it certainly is your job to judge those inside the church who are sinning in these ways. 13 God will judge those on the outside; but as the Scriptures say, “You must remove the evil person from among you.”

I look at the profiles of the people who answer those nasty questions or remarks and the profiles say things like “I’m a Pastor” or “I am the leader of a Christian Prayer group” or “I am a true Christian serving God”

THE QUESTION I AM ASKING is this:

1. Do you really believe you are being like Christ when you make your nasty little funnies? (or)
2. Do you think it is ok because you believe once saved always saved?

In other words, what in the world makes you think it is ok for a Christian to behave this way?

"Nike" thanks but I am not wrong, my question is to people claiming Christ not to people who do not.

Excellent question Pastor. My guess would be that they are A. Not truly Christians--they didn't truly give their lives to Christ, and don't have the Spirit indwelling them; or B. They are very immature, fleshly Christians who have ignored conviction of the Spirit.

Those of us who are a bit more mature in our walk with Christ understand that we are to live "THANK YOU" lives for the sacrifice of our Savior and God, and become new creatures through the renewing of our minds. This means leaving these immature things behind. But too many don't take their commitment to Christ seriously--I didn't for a very long time. But now I realize just how serious it is, and I have relied on God to renew my mind daily--by immersing myself in His Word, and by associating with other more mature Christians.

Christians, the Pastor is right. We are called to be better. We are called to be compassionate. We are called to be HOLY. You are either FOR Christ, or against Him...

NH Baritone--The Pastor is, I believe, calling Christians to "remove the plank in their own eye before they point at the speck in the eye of their neighbor".

As for vitriol, there is plenty of vitriol being sprayed out by lots of people on Yahoo. It's not all the Christians, although I would agree there is more than I would like to see from them. But Christians, by and large, are the group who gets attacked by nearly everyone--aetheists, Muslims, crackpots, anybody with an attitude...That certainly does not make it right to respond with anger or curses, or vulgar language. That is precisely the WRONG avenue to take for a Christian.

My point to you is that those who respond that way are not true representatives of Christianity, and I for one wish that they would go away, grow up, and truly read and learn from the Bible.

Even Christians are human.

Although there will undoubtedly be those that sin because they are simply weak and those that do it because they assume God will just forgive them. Maybe a little of both.

As far as once saved, always saved goes. I don't believe that. If you are going to talk the talk then you should walk the walk however some habits die hard and people will surely find some behaviours harder to shed than others, thats where they will trip up. Surely God will be happy that they're trying.

I agree that Christians should not be vindictive and outright nasty however, that will just give other Christians a bad name and sadly I'm aware that this does happen. Of course it's because they're Christians they do this, not because they are bad examples of humanity or anything.

As someone who grew up in the church, I do not believe that most people have any sort of an understanding of what being a Christian really means. They see public figures who use their religion as a weapon, and they assume that that is the way that they should be. They read the parts of the Bible that suit this vindictive attitude and ignore the parts that actually DO show the ways of the true Christian (i.e., the Sermon on the Mount). In addition, they see the media and government being spiteful about some things (i.e., same-sex marriage, evolution, etc.), and they take that as carte blanche to be nasty to those who do not agree with them, all in the name of Christianity and patriotism (which I would argue have become nearly interchangeable over the last several years).

Dear Pastor,

Good question.

From what I have seen in my short 34 years, humans are more willing to go the easy way. The fun way. Than to make an effort.

When I read posts, or questions about Christianity, heaven and such things I am almost always sadden by the regurgitated answer - basically what we learned to sing in Sunday school - 'cause the bible told me so -

Perhaps it is mainly in the USA, where the education is about memorization - test and then forget what you learned. Maybe that is now the approach to religion. I don't know. But I find it very sad. I find many Christians, flat, shallow, hypocritical, judgmental and un-accepting, and it hurts, and I see it often evokes a similar response in me, but luckily I at least have this knowledge.

I have read the bible 5 times, I have read many books by and about great saints, their trials, their humble triumphs and the wonder of who they became. So, I guess I always hope .... and continue to hope. I have read many other books, from other religions too.

may you find a way to touch the hearts and souls of your congregation ....

I do believe in God, and that when a person is practicing a religion, then give yourself to it and live by it. That is the purpose of a religion.

If a christian is being nasty in their comments then they are acting the same as the world, which is wrong. I don't know what these "nasty little funnies" are that you speak of, but I am guessing they may be dirty jokes. I am kind of new so I haven't seen these and connected them to christians. Usually, if I notice that stuff is nasty I just skip over it as I don't feel the need to read it. I believe that if you wouldn't write it or speak it while Christ was sitting next to you then you shouldn't be doing it at all. God Bless You in all you do.

1. I hope that none of my answers have been, what your definition of, "nasty little funnies" is. If I employ any humor, I hope it passes the "WWJD" test.
2. I answered #1... and since this is an "OR" option, I don't have to answer this one.

and... HEY!!! No fair throwing in a #3 question there!!! I hope my profile (she checks again) says only that I am a Christian... and one that is ... hopefully... forgiven. Like Paul, however, I am continually torn between the "temptations" of the flesh, and the desires of the Holy Spirit. It ain't easy to battle THIS battle every day of my life, but I do, just as Paul did. Hopefully, I will end up on the Lord's side, but forgive me if my flesh falters now and then.

I understand the willingness of others to be grateful that someone who is Christian is calling the other Christians to task. However, I think your question is once again raising sexuality to the biggest concern of Christianity.

Can you truly look at all the vitriol spewed by Christians in this forum and say the only comments that deserve your response are the sexually-infused submissions? It's almost like you were walking down the hallway of your local high school, & upon seeing one student slugging another while two others were embraced in a long kiss, you chose to address the romantic behavior before the violence.

I hope that this question does not just reflect your own discomforts with sexuality, but that it is simply one of several consciousness raising questions you will bring to bear in Yahoo! Answers' R&S forum.

Sorry is for sorry suckers that could not get it right the first time! Words mean nothing without actually making a change. It does not make anything OK. And most people who insist that it does, will continue to do the same thing over and over. Change is the only thing that will make things OK. That said we all make mistakes and when someone says Sorry, we should give them the benifit of the doubt the first time, that they will not do it. But if they continue to hurt you, it is better to seperate yourself from them for the sake of both of you. If you allow yourself to continue to be a victim it is not good for either of you. They will be tempted to continue doing the wrong thing and you will become angry and resentful. This is not healthy for anyone.

Greetings, Rev. Do remember that most people are Christians only in "name", sad but true and they don't practice what they preach. Just keep the faith alive. I give you a thumbs up for standing to what you believe in with great conviction. We need pastors like you to knock some sense into our heads once in a while.

". Do you really believe you are being like Christ when you make your nasty little funnies?"

This is exactly what Jesus had in mind when He said, we need to turn the other cheek.. He knew we would be targets of critiques, and the only response is to turn the cheek

"Do you think it is ok because you believe once saved always saved?"

I think you're on to something that we talk about this morning
in SS class.,

All sin is equal in Gods eye, but we humans seem to put sin into some rank order. Allowing ourselves to commit some, but not others,

Not realizing God sees it all the same
