I really want to lose weight, but I'm afraid to tell my parents because they always assume I have an eating disorder. I'm 16, 5'2, and I think around 102 pounds. I'm pretty solid and I want to be thinner. Whenever I leave a meal unfinished, they make me finish it. I try to go to the gym every day, but they get worried again, so I "excersize" secretly in my room by running in circles or jumping up and down. They've caught me spooning the oil off of food because oil is high in calories, and that freaked them out. Also, I pay close attention to calories and won't eat things if they are high in calories. They sent me to a doctor because I don't have regular periods, but the doctor said it's just because I'm young. I'm only trying to be healthy, but they worry too much. How can I lose weight without them knowing? (without bulemia)

You sound like normal weight for a 16 yr old to me. Exercise is good no matter if you are already skinny or not and I do understand why you would not want to eat a lot of oily foods. They are yucky. Just eat more of the healthy foods and lift weights to build muscle, which will look better than stickbones and skin. You probably won't lose weight but your body will be toned. Don't hide it from your parents. That is why they are scared.

I'm trying to get a tighter tummy and my grandpa thought I was anorexic when I mentioned my wanting to loose weight(My parents didn't mind but my grandpa is close with our family he's at my house a lot since he's only 30 min away). So I laid off it for a while and now I say I want to be healthier and I want a flat stomach he says good for you being healthy is good for you. So does my mom.

When you think about it does it matter how much you weigh? It's that you want to be thinner.Don't do anything silly like skipping meals. Your body is the only one you have don't screw it up.

If you have IO or any on demand service they usually have a free on demand section where you can find exercise segments.(In IO it's under lifeskool) There are also healthy eating shows on free on demand as well.

I'm also 5'2 but I'm 13 and I weigh 97 pounds. For my age yes I'm under weight but only by a little and I understand that sometimes you may have a little jiggle in your belly even though your under weight .Loose that Jiggle in a healthy way. Maybe you might even get to an average weight by gaining muscle. (That's my goal)

GOOD LUCK!!!!

I know where you're coming from - well, I'm 5'2" and 93-ish pounds (but I'm also 14) - but that's because I'm extremely active in soccer and cross country. I'd recommend one way to lose weight is to become involved in sports - and the sole purpose of sports is not to lose weight, but because of the amount of calories you'll be burning you'll probably end up losing weight, but also becoming stronger. This way, also, it's partly regulated(?) - don't think that that is the right word, but the coaches will be able to monitor and aid you in becoming healthier. Also, you're parents will know of it but also hopefully approve because it IS school-related with trained professionals (coaches). Check out your high school to see what sport teams you have and get involved. :) Most schools have a summer program/camp, and especially for cross country, everyone runs, everyone is involved and can participate so you don't have to be 'good enough' to start out to make the team. It'll take time to build up your endurance but in the end it's worth it - and you'll lose weight.

You should be worried too. If you are a solid 102lbs. Then you are still slightly underweight. And remember MUSCLE WEIGHS MORE THAN FAT. I don't know how often I tell people this. Someone who is muscular, and I don't mean like a bodybuilder, you might actually weigh more than a girl who is tubby. Your self-described behavior is borderline compulsive. I would listen to your parents. They have your best interest in mind. If you have concerns about your weight, which you shouldn't, sit down and talk this through with them and also with your family doctor. You obviously need some lessons in health and fitness. Your parents have every right to be worried, there are countless stories of girls who started off "just wanting to be healthy" who became anorexic or bulimic, and eventually died. Listen to them.

my God girl you are so thin as it is. I would say you have a body image problem....you are beautiful just like you are, but you don't see yourself as beautiful so you think that being thinner will somehow make you more attractive. Come on, get real. Anyone who doesn't find you attractive now will never find you attractive no matter what you weigh. The reality is, not every woman is hot to every guy, some guys will find you irresistable, and other guys will not, that's just the way the world works. I say count your blessings, and focus on eating healthy, fat and oil in moderation with everything else. They say the reality is, there is no BAD foods, just bad quantities. After all, too much water can hurt you too....and water is a good thing!

You don't ned to diet. Just firm up those muscles.. you will notice your waist line diminishing as you do. Throw out the scales and pick up a tape measure.

To build this muscle, you have to eat very well. You need to provide the requirement of Calories that your body is consuming to sustain the exercise. fact is, you will probably have to eat more than you have been eating or supplement it with a high protein intake. This is important or else your body will go into survival mode and store your body fat.

I suggest you cut back your gym to 3 or 4 times a week... but put some plates on the bar for those squats and lunges etc... load up the strain on your msucles so that they react by firming up... rest one day between gym days so you can recover the muscles.

Trust me.... women don't have the natural testosterone to get tank.... but you will get heavier (cause muscle is heavy) but slimmer (cause the energy you consume will be used to sustain your muscle mass.... chewing away at any body fat) .... understand?

Then you will be happy cause you will look truly sexy.. and your parents will be happy cause you will be eating like a horse to feed the muscle burn, going to gym less often and apparently "putting on weight"... lol.

im pretty sure you'r ealready underweight judging by your height and weight. So you need to just think rationally and truely look at yourself in the mirror.

If you need to "secretly" lose weight then there is definately a problem. Im sure if you were overweight, they wouldn't be very worried about you dieting a little bit.
