druggy people abuse drugs legal and illegal. they get high off of the drug by taking lg. doses. violence is usually associated w/withdrawal symptoms. i really hope u have sought help for ur son! he is of age and could go to jail for possession! call a local dr. and get him in rehab asap! remember...he is an adult so, u may not be able to get him to comply. i know u love ur son but i gotta ask why if he has always had a problem, is he still ur responsibility at age 22? has he never faced consequences for his actions? maybe it is time for "tough love!" cut him off if he won't go to rehab. i have a son too so i know how hard that would be, but would u rather find him overdosed somewhere? get some help and if he is violent call 911! u have to do it for him. just removing the drugs from home is not going to stop him from doing this.

Oxycontin (the brand name for oxycodone) is generally a time-release tablet, so that the patient gets a slow release of painkillers throughout the day. Many people abuse it by crushing it, and snorting it (or possibly mixing with something to inject it). This makes all of the medicine hit at once, supposedly giving the user a high just like heroin. Since it is a "downer," I don't think it would cause violence problems; that is more likely due to his overall addiction problems.
My suggestion is to watch the show "Intervention" on A&E and strongly consider an intervention of your own. I don't know anything specific about your situation, but telling him he is either going to rehab or you will kick him out may be what he needs to change. Keeping the Oxycontin at work is a great idea in the meantime.

I'm now not a clinical trained nor aware of any of the medicinal drugs you acknowledged however I were informed that a well dose of desk salt will reduce the drug readings. Then once more it is dependent upon while he obtained the order to take the scan relating to the date he could take it. In such a lot instances the medicinal drugs may also be reduced in 3 or 4 days. But that is simply what I've heard from others I don't have any demonstrated data. Perhaps there shall be any one who can supply you a larger reply.

Oxycontin also known as percocet is a very hot item on the streets right now. If he's an addict he's using them to get high, often people sell them. You already know the effects, your husband takes them for the prescribed purpose of pain control. Your son is probably taking a higher number to increase the high. I doubt they would make him violent on their own. He is probably mixing them or taking something else. You need to join a support group to help you deal with your son. If you don't have one for narcotics in your area, look into alanon. It deals with addiction in general and people affected by having loved ones involved. Good luck.

This is problematic. Oxycontin is actually a trade name for Oxycodone. It stands for OXYcodone CONTINuous release. Oxycodone is used in treatment of moderate to severe chronic pain medically. Recreationally, Oxycodone has similar effects to morphine and heroin, and appeals to the same abuse community. Oxycodone is a habit-forming drug.
