burnt out capacitor?

i have a 1 micro farad 35k capacitor on a camera cctv system and it keeps burning out.can anyone give me an idea as to why please?

It is probably due to another component on the circuit board causing too much current or too much voltage. You could try replacing the component with one that has a higher maximum voltage rating.

Also, make sure the capacitor is installed correctly if it is "polarized" with a "+" or a line on one side that indicates it must be installed one direction.
