On a Scale of 1-10, how much do you like the Lifeteen Mass?

For those who don't know, its the contemporary music version of the Catholic Mass.

I have been to several Lifeteen Masses. Here are my observations.

1. The music, although well performed, is too difficult for the average bear to sing.

2. Pseudo-eruptions of being moved by the Spirit occur on cue

3. The preaching at EVERY Lifeteen Mass I attended was sloppy

4. It separates the youth from the mainstream of the community

5. Young people who come to the church through Lifeteen do not do well integrating into adult worship and often leave the church.

I am not a teen, but have been to a Life Teen Mass several times. I can definitely see the draw.

However, Life Teen is much more than just a Mass with contemporary music. Our parish has one Mass each weekend with that kind of music.

There are about a bazillion contemporary Mass settings. Ever heard of the U2charist? I'd probably give it a 1, just based on the concept. I never liked that stuff when I was a teenager. I thought it was smarmy, and didn't like to see older people trying to drag in younger people by acting "hip". I thought it cheapened the Mass. I always preferred the classical music settings my church used, and still uses today. Contemporary music doesn't impress me much in a church setting. But that's just me, and some other people might like it.

8 I went to one tonight, and generally try to go to it, as the music is much nicer than the other masses.

Also I doubt many of the above people ever attended one, and it would not suprise me if they have never attended a Catholic mass period.
