I love it. They're so much fun and they come in a variety of colors and shapes (swirly!)... and some straws come with animal toppers. Why wouldn't you want to add fun to what otherwise could be a very boring drink?

It makes the drinks last longer. If you have a thin straw you can only suck in a small amount at a time. You also get tipsy faster so you need less drinks...cheaper night out. Although you may look a little silly drinking beer or wine through a straw.

Because straws are more sensitive, they don't talk back to you and they always offer to buy the next round of drinks, and they are good to be seen with as they are slim and attractive, I would drink with a straw any day rather than go out alone.

I personally find straws to be more fun. You don't have to lift a glass and risk spilling the contents all over you with a straw and it's more sanitary if a lot of people drink from your cups. Why wouldn't you drink from a straw?

I drink with a straw do to the coldness of the ice, if I don't drink with a straw it hurts my teeth.

Because I don't like when i tilt the glass to take a drink and the ice splashes around and I get beverage or ice all over my face. I'd rather drink with a straw!

i drink cold drinks with a straw because my teeth are sensitive. And I like to bite the straw.

In my opinion you look like an idiot sitting in a bar drinking from a straw, Just order another drink if you want to get more wasted....

For women it is lipstick mainly. For men it is to keep their mustache out of the glass. For kids it is because straws are more fun than just picking up a glass to drink from it.
The practical value of straws with iced drinks is that it keeps you hand and your lips from melting the ice and diluting your drink.
