the most probable tihng is that he likes you. But it oculd be too, that he is excited or happy for you and wants to know all about it (like a female friend would)

there's always that possibility that he likes you. but if you don't think that's it, then he's probably just trying to protect you and look out for you. close guy friends can be like that sometimes!
