I couldn't sum it up any better than Invisible Flag. But I'll add this: if it was JUST about deists' beliefs regarding the nature of God and the universe, deism would be pretty unremarkable. What makes deism important is that it typically goes hand in hand with secular humanism. The great humanitarian advances of the eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries are all basically rooted in that worldview: that there is a cause for every effect, and that humans can use reason to understand and improve the world. Liberte! Egalite! Fraternite!
Peace to you.

We believe in Nature's God....and that means that we do not have a single definition for the Higher Power, because we do not assume to know everything about everything.
We believe that the natural forces that we see around us everyday....are part of the original creation. The original intentions of creation, included change as part of the life-force that is around us, above us, beneath us, and within us.
The earth and the sky...the waters and the air...it was an intentional design. All Human Beings are equal (although different). We are all connected to each other, by the original energy and we can choose to consider ourselves separate or united....it's an individual choice.
I am swaying more towards the "united race" of all mankind.

God created the universe, then walked away. This is the basic premise of deism.

Deists typically reject supernatural events (prophecy, miracles) and divine revelation prominent in organized religion, along with holy books and revealed religions that assert the existence of such things. Instead, Deists hold that religious beliefs must be founded on human reason and observed features of the natural world, and that these sources reveal the existence of one God or supreme being.
