1. At the end of the day, if we can answer, did we do our best, the response will tell us.
2. The motivation behind our action will determine the value.
With regard to our words, we may never know, some times our words may only be as a seed to grow at a later time.
Some words may be assisted by the Holy Spirit, to be spoken or withheld. based on our motivation .
If words are uplifting, kind, encouraging, grateful, or spoken in truth and love, you should not have any doubt.
Scripture tell us 'out of the mouth comes the abundance of the heart.' If we listen to ourselves speak, that will tell us right off, if we are helping others much less ourselves.

Most of the time, you probably will not know in this lifetime but go ahead and do what you feel you should. The fact that someone may have an impact on someone else is often times never known. My first grade teacher because of kindness and acceptance made a great impact on my life. I doubt she even knows.

Would you rather do nothing your whole life and be an atheist, or take a change with a religion. In the end, what if there is a heaven and a hell. Think about it that way, but I trust that god is there, you should too.

Question 1: If your actions help people, they are not a waste of your time. If your actions are pleasurable, but do not hurt anyone, then they are not a waste of your time.
Question 2: You can't. You do the best you can, and hope for the best.

The Bible teaches us that most everything you do is a waste of time and is vain; Ecclesiastes 1:2 Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.
Ecclesiastes 1:14 I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.
So what is eternal is the better question. God's word is what saves and is eternal so that is what we speak of to our fellow man, and there is no greater gift of God than to get a revelation of who God is. But mankind in his nature would always become prideful without suffering in the flesh;
2 Corinthians 12:7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
Each of God's faithful men received some revelation to base their faith upon of whom Abraham was the first to believe some day he would have a child in his old age and is called the father of Faith; Romans 4:16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,
We were born to get revelation from God as Peter did when he spoke about Jesus Christ and this is why we are here to suffer and build character as each godly man did in the stories told; Matthew 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
And if Jesus Christ the perfect sacrifice had to suffer to learn to become perfect how much more us, should we understand suffering builds character to rule; Hebrews 5:8
Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
Doing the Father's will is what we are to do not our own, but if you do not know the Bible you cannot know the Father's will; Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 12:50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.
Matthew 26:42 He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

You have no idea....You pray that God will bless it and you leave it in His hands....One day you may meet someone in Heaven that says, I was here because of your answer. You just trust the Lord that He has you here for a reason.

No way of tellin. Just be faithful and help when you can, the Lord knows who really is seeking, and He will bless you trying to help.
I wouldn't spend alot of time on here tho, most of it is just silliness. Go out into the world and help people there in your workplace or school, or even at home.

Are you here to share what you know? Then share. Whether or not it helps is moot.
If you feel like you are wasting your time, then you probably are.
I answer questions because I like to answer questions. If it helps someone, great. If it doesn't, that's okay too. I'm not personally attached to the outcome.
