People make the common mistake of thinking that there are so many denominations because they all interpret the Bible differently. That is hogwash. Sure, some have some significant differences.
But in the main, most believe that Jesus died for sinners, was buried, and rose again. Most believe that we are saved by faith in Jesus apart from works. Most believe that Jesus is coming again to judge the world of sin and set up His kingdom. Some denominations distinguish themselves by focusing on a doctrine that other denominations believe in but don't focus on it, like prophecy or spiritual gifts. But I think we are a lot less fractured than people would have you believe.

The correct one is the one that doesn't mix the "philosophy, empty deception, and traditions of MEN" in with what God said in his word the bible! Another big indicator is the one that recognizes and properly makes use of God's personal name! Colossians 2:8, Psalm 83:18
That scripture in Colossians also is part of the reason there are so many denominations. Man mixes his own ideas into what the bible says and when enough people buy into it, a new denomination starts. 2 John 9 is another good one.

First of all, there is NO "correct" denomination/religion. The real reason there are so many denominations is because different people had different ideas and the founder of each denomination had ideas of his own to further his own agenda.

To find out the answer, one must ask a representative of the each of the faiths the reasons for their doctrines.
A very helpful publication is "Religions in America" by Leo Rosten.
In this book, the author asks representatives of the major denominations what their beliefs are, and why.
It is a very honest overview of the major religions in the US.
Get a copy and you will be amazed at some of the answers provided by the different faiths.

Each denomination came from a recognition of a spiritual need (or a spiritual lack), and an honest attempt to meet the need.
The universal mistake in them is that each one was a usurpation of God's authority. God alone can establish a religion to lead men to him -- but men in impatience have resorted to re-inventing religion themselves as they have best seen fit, leading to all kinds of confusion.
The correct denomination is the one made by God, not men. You can recognize it by its absolute consistence with all of God's previous religious dispensations... provided you can recognize those previous ones.

There are so many different denominations of Christianity because so many people interpret the Bible in so many ways. This is why it is so important to have a prophet on earth that can reveal the will of God. The correct one is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the only way to know the truth is through study and prayer.

There are many correct denominations.
And many more in-correct denominations.
Why do so many exist? Stubbborn men who don't have a good understanding of the Bible.
Any group who claims, "We are the one and only correct group" is obviously false.
Below is a list of 50 good denominations, who work and cooperate with each other.

That is kind of why I stopped going to church. I still love God with all of my heart, it's just that each and every single religion out claims to be the "perfect" religion. Churches are too filled with people who only go in order to look good. Think about it. How many people can honestly say that they actually listen to the whole sermon? Half of them are either asleep, or thinking about what they did the night before or what they may do that afternoon. They feel that they will go to heaven if they go to Church, even if through out the week they are rude, selfish, and inconsiderate of others.

I am non-denominational. I believe in the Holy Word of God in the Bible. The reason is man's bias or beliefs. We must agree on the Christian Essentials, and not divide on secondary issues.

There are as many denominations as there are ways to worship Jesus and God. There is no "correct" one, as they are merely different ways of doing the same thing. Choose the one that works for you.
