As the following verse shows, Jesus was blessed and grew strong spiritually.
Luk 2:40 And the child grew, and waxed strong, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.
As the following verses shows, at 12 years of age, Jesus knew who he was. Luke 2:42-29
Luk 2:49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? knew ye not that I must be in my Father's house?
But it took the angels to minister to him for forty days so that he would know his purpose on earth.
As shown, he went through other things that forty days.
Mar 1:13 And he was in the wilderness forty days tempted of Satan; and he was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.
He knew who he was.

I'm not sure whether Jesus understood this as a child. The Bible doesn't give much information about Jesus during His very early years. But when Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem to learn and ask questions of the priests, I think Jesus knew. He knew because when Mary (His mother) told Him that they had worried, Jesus responded "Did you not know that I must be about my Father's business".

No. That would have been too much for a child to handle.
He was here to be human so he would know our short comings That wouldn't have happened if his God self had been dominate his whole life. If you remember he first thought he was here only for the Jews.
His God self woke up a little at a time.
You can see it happen as his story progresses.

I've never really given that any thought. Interesting question.
We do know that his Mother knew from the moment the angel told her she would bear the Messiah. Joseph, His foster father here on earth, also knew.
I wonder if they explained this to Him as He got older and could understand, much like a parent might explain to an adopted child.

Jesus would have known when He was old enough, much the same as us.I was born a Catholic and when I came of age had to make a choice to accept or reject God's plan.We are also children of God and Jesus is our brother.
