My wife and I were shopping today and this little girl around 4 year old had to pee. The mom kept ignoring her and finally told her to shut up and said that she was not going until they got home. This was in a Walmart which has family bathrooms in the back and regular ones in the front. I just do not understand and this is not the first time I have seen this? Does this go on everywhere or just here in TX where I live?

Public restrooms are pretty nasty places. I'm not saying its alright for the parent to do it. But I can almost see where its coming from, especially if their home is only like 5 minutes away or something.

Well, that's funny because the Grandmom I know, who gave her family the idea that public restrooms are so filled with germs that none of her family will survive if they use them, is from Texas. One of her granddaughter's hold her poop so long that it has become a problem for the girl to have normal bowl movements. But, no, it's not only Texans. At work where we pretty much know each other had messy restroom because people were afraid to touch the flush levers, cubicle doors, handles on the basins. If the restrooms are foul, I'll turn around too. I carry hand sanitizer and the kids and I usually bathe before bed and change our underwear. Sorry, I went off the deep end here.

it may just be in texas, cause that may have been me you seen at walmart!!! im am guilty of this now let me explain. for 2 reasons....i am a single mother of 4 and just walking through a store with a 9, 6,4,and a 3 year old can be hell. sometimes im in a hurry and i cant go to fast with them all, it doesnt work. sometimes, i have a basket full of stuff, 4 kids, im still just waiting in line the cashier dont know what to do cause shes new, and i got on kid saying mommy i gotta go pee! i live 5 min. away, they can hold it that long, and god forgive me if im harming him in any way by making them wait another 5 or 10 min. just cause they are kids, dont mean they cant hold it. and reason 2. my kids get in any store, the wanna use the bathroom, not cause they gotta use it, they like the echo! they love public restrooms. they coulda just gone pee 5 min ago, but no they wanna go in wal marts rest toom!

I'm a mom. Granted my baby is still in diapers but I bet I can maybe show a different side of the situation. Have you seen most of those bathrooms? They are horrible. Most of the kids you've seen complaining about having to be don't know too much about germs, let alone know how to hover (girls). Even though my baby is still in diapers I wait to change her diaper in the car because I don't want her catching anything. I know it sucks to hold it. But maybe these moms are just too grossed out from public bathrooms.

Unfortunately children are mis-treated everywhere. There seems to be no way to stop it either. I just am grateful that we have what we do for Child Protection. Maybe my family would have stopped taking turns having sex with me. From my perspective, what you saw wasn't that bad and I look at the good. For your perspective it may seem horrible to you that the child had to hold it until she got home. I used to have to hold it when driving to go camping until we got there. Guess it's all a matter of perspective. What happened isn't right, but there isn't anything anyone can do, but pray for the child and her parents.

Blessed Be

Well I've seen this happen also. Its rather 1. their lazy as hell, 2. annoyed because they keep on asking to use the restroom, and really don't have to go, or 3. they don't like public restroom's because most are nasty.

I live in OR...and some parents are concerned about how dirty restrooms are. My mom-in-law hates shopping carts, and wipes them down like a maid, before she puts my son in one. Anyway, there are some parents out there that are lazy, but I would like to believe it was because of germ fears!

Some ppl really have a problem with allowing their children to use public restrooms. They have really bad germ phobias and don't take precautionary measures. All they have to do is carry a ziploc with clorox wipes, etc. and clean the toilet seat and underneath before they use it. They are uneducated. Your mouth (freshly brushed and flossed) is nastier than a public toilet. And the only STD you COULD catch from a toilet is crabs.

I see that alot where I live especially in the really young parents. I have even seen a 3 year old with her eye brow pierced like her 17 year old mother's!! Some people are just too concerned with themselves and should never become parents.
