I was in a very small, two room crowded airport in Key West, FL. I was in the departure terminal in a very long line and realized that I had forgotten my ticket in my car (my stupid fault, this I know!). Anyway, I was attempting to exit the terminal (one room) when about 20+ elderly ladies were entering very slowly into the room. I was the only one trying to get out, and I asked if they could please excuse me and let me out. According to common courtesy, the person exiting is to have the "right of way" for lack of a better term (think of an elevator--don't even get me started on that!).
The lady then nastily said to me, "Can't you WAIT?!?"
If I had waited for all of them, it would have been in excess of 5 minutes, and I was on the verge of missing my flight anyway, so I said I could not wait and scooted out the door, much to their dismay, with them yelling at me (it took me 2 seconds). I know that I didn't follow etiquette to the T, but I don't think I was out of line. Any input?

oh god, don't get me started on elevator etiquette as well! YES, exiting passengers have the right of way.
as for your airport dilemma, you were in the right, as you asked politely to be excused to exit. Also, just because they were elderly does not excuse THEM for having poor manners.
that sucks you got yelled at by all the elderly women LOL. but i think you did what any normal person would do, with having to hurry to catch your flight :)

How frequently do you expect to have this problem in your lifetime?

If we say "Yes, You were justified in knocking them down," will you go back and do that? If you had a time machine, would you use it for that?

Do you have any more serious problems that you are neglecting to tell us about? Doesn't that make you the luckiest person on the whole Internet, then?

Are you sure you asked politely? If you did it seems odd that they would all yell at you.
