Is there anyway I can fix my portable DVD palyer myself? It reads "no Disc'' when I try to play a DVD. It's not worth taking to someone to fix because i'm sure the cost will be close to what I paid for it. Thanks for any information. Email to me at craazzygal@yahoo.com

Your unit sounds like the motor is still spinning the disc - it is hard to say if the laser is being moved - regardless you can't fix those things yourself.

The first thing, of course, is to either replace the battery or use the power adapter when you have a battery operated device that isn't working.

The most common self-repair (especially on units that open up like portable DVD) is to clean the laser lens. Use a Q-tip and some alcohol to clean it - let it dry and try again.
