i was reading on a warning label on the popcorn bag and it said "do not use popcorn button on the microwave".. does anyone know why you're not supposed to?

Because microwaves are wildly varied as far as their power & capacity.
Orville's popcorn people want your popcorn to turn out perfect...which means standing next to the microwave & LISTENING, and stopping when the corn is popping less than once per 5 seconds.

Some pre-set "popcorn" settings will be too short or too long to make great popcorn.

Probably because most popcorn buttons don't do an accurate time for cooking popcorn. Or maybe their popcorn cooks for a different length of time than the traditional popcorn button. I've always had to do the listen with Orville popcorn.

I guess in lab tests when they used the popcorn button, the popcorn burned. Good thing I can't say that for myself because, when I pop my Orville Redenbacher's popcorn, I always use the popcorn button and it works for me with no problem!

it cook it at a higher temp then normal which burns and drys out the popcorn, also every microwave does a different time which is either to long or not long enough.
