Now, I believe in evolution, but there are scientific theories that I happen to think are wrong though. For example, I don't buy the dark matter or dark energy theories, I don't buy the theory that there are multiple universes, I don't buy the theory that there are millions of other advanced civilizations in our universe. However, I don't HATE these theories with everything in me. Although I don't believe in these theories, I don't get filled with absolute rage when my teachers teach them to me. I just quietly disagree and move on with my life. You people though don't just disagree with evolution, you get filled with bitter hatred by the mere mention of these theories. A few Christians have even dedicated their entire lives to protesting this theory. What is the big deal?????

Well I believe in advanced civilizations. We were very advanced once upon a time. Then we died and travelled from there to here and evolution restarted. I don't hate it when people talk about things I don't necessarily believe in, I think everyone should be open-minded to everyones beliefs. There are no right or wrong answers for after-life. Live and let live. Some people feel that if they converse with non-believers that they themselves are sinning?

Hate evolution?? Is that something like hating photosynthesis?? As a biologist I know about such natural processes. And as a born again Christian I fully accept them. I know for a fact that my own Christian beliefs are true. Therefore I have no reason to fear scientific truth, because I know that no genuine truth can conflict with any other genuine truth. Some Christians are apparently so insecure in their beliefs that they fear truth from other sources, lest their own beliefs be proven false. Which is exactly what has happened with many of the unauthoritative beliefs built upon the shifting sands of personal biblical interpretation. So such Christians have good reason for insecurity.

Simple.
The entirety of Christian theology is based on one significant "event", the creation of "original sin", a policy set into place at the very beginning, with the total screwing of Adam and Eve.
Christianity cannot take evolution, nor any non biblical creation account, as fact, because to do so would be to abandon faith in the Adam and Eve story, which would cause their entire theology to fall apart.

Even Darwin said that Evolution would be proven true in the future by the billions of yet undiscovered intermediate species (missing links) that would have to exist for evolution to work.
Update 2007: Theres a guy in China with a dremmel tool etching feathers on a lizard fossil and claiming to find the missing link from dinos to birds.
Evolution "Scientists" have committed so many frauds trying to prove evolution. (Piltdown Man, Nebraska Man ect.)They have no credibility with me and I am not all that religious.
For evolution to be true the missing links would have to be the overwhelming majority of the fossil record but instead they are either extremely rare or non existent.

hey hey hey wait
those 'theories' aren't really scientific.
scientific theories include the theory of gravitational force, and the theory of evolution, by means of natural selection.
theres a 'theory' out that says that there is a massive water dragon in a lake somewhere.
see?
not a *scientific* theory.
big difference, that many christians do not see.
as for why they *hate* evolution, its because it disproves their bible, so they must do as much as possible to get rid of it.

The only people I know threatened by evolution are those trying to still make sense of the bible, still believing in adam and eve, and other fairy tales. The other items you mentioned? All neat things to think about, and are more in the area of philosophy, than hard science... evolution on this planet is hard science,,,,, proof beyond beyond. All one needs to have to understand it is some reasonable amount of intelligence and the ability to read.... Solid fundamentalist christians have left those religions, even when they were brain washed as children... tuff, and brave of them, actually. But that is what education and some smarts will do for you, and it is especially impressive for them particularly when their moms find out and start damning them to burn in hell for their denial of the savior....
But I get letters all the time of how god will get me, how the jews had evil in their hearts, that's why got had them cooked, and they believe in god and that in and of itself is proof. I even had one guy tell me he had more faith in the reality of god than he had in gravity.... Astonishing, wouldn't you say???? (I have a bridge in Brooklyn I'd love to sell that one....)

People who don't believe in evolution have stopped doing so. They will be the ones left behind as consciousness evolves around them.
