My mom got this Singing Machine karaoke machine at a rummage sale and it came with a video camera attached to it. I plugged the camera into the tv and you could see the the video camera was viewing on the tv. today, i tried pointing it to the tv and at first I saw infinite images of the tv, but when i directed the camera directly at the tv, I saw a white light followed by a spectrum of changing colors. What is going on?

what you have is the equivalent of feedback squeal for audio when the mic is too close to the speaker. video also has a feedback as the camera tries to track the tv display. both are not good on the equipment and could potentially cause damage depending on whether protection circuits are used in the devices, which is unlikely for consumer gear.
