what tools do i need to invest in to make beautiful cakes and cupcakes of every design and how to use them i'm trying to learn any decorating tips would be appreciated

You should get a Wilton decorating kit. They come in different sizes (different #'s of tips) and they all come with illustrated directions on what the tip does and best uses for the tip.
Their website is amazing with cake/dessert ideas and instructions.
The prepared fondant is the only one that I use because it tastes just as good as homemade.

Wilton Cake Decorating Kit Number 1. I love the wilton method I just finished book one and am about to start book two. It is amazing how many things the book teaches you to do.
