Can you use a dvd player as a tv tuner?

Im getting a lcd monitor with no tuner of any type and wanted to know if I could use the dvd player im getting as a tuner

Is it a DVD player or a DVD recorder that you're getting? I'm not familiar with any DVD players that have tuners built in but DVD recorders usually have them.

Most likely, no, unless the DVD Player specifies it has a TV Tuner built in, which I highly doubt.

NO!!!!!!! Your DVD player is just that. It plays DVDs.
