I got my dog from a rescue almost five months ago and want to change her name now that I know her better. Is it too late? Her name is Karma.

She will learn a new name. Just use the old / new name together for about a week then just drop the old name. I have done the same & the dog adjusted well.

Most definitely not too late. Dogs respond more to the tone of your voice than the name itself. So changing it's name really won't confuse it. Odds are, too, that the dog didn't have the name "Karma" very long. Often dogs that end up in a shelter don't come in named - they're found on the streets or pups from a yet-to-be-named litter. The shelters simply give it a name to track which dog is which and plus you don't want to just have "Dog X" on the cage lol

Karma's a cute name, though - my next door neighbour has a little mixed pup named that.

You can change it any time you want! I got a dog from a rescue organization and renamed him. Just start calling her the new name. It won't take her long to pick it up. Use it whenever you talk to her.

It's not too late; hold treats while saying the new name and after a few days she will realize her new name is no longer Karma.

It depends on how old the dog is. Actually, Karma is nice. But you can get her to respond to something new.

No, it will take about 3 days for her to get use to it.

Trust me, I fostered a dog that was 9 years old and we had no idea what her name was. But she adjusted to 'Macy' after 3 days.

Changing her name will work if you do it slowly. Call her by her old name and then her new name for a while, and then slowly start calling her just by her new name. Give her a treat if she responds to her new name.

how old is she?
if she already knows her name, then call her by her name, then right after you say her name call her the name u want...say the name u want immediatly after u call her

like: karma...betsy, come here
then after awhile she might get used to it

good luck!
