a steer is a neutered male bovine(cow) of any breed.a "fixed" texas longhorn is a steer,an "intact" texas longhorn is a bull.same applies to guernseys,jerseys,etc.fixed means its a steer.whole means its a bull.a mature steer is an ox.

steer can be texas long horns
not all long horns are steers
Steers are castrated young bulls that are raised for the meat market
Of any breed of cattle not only long horn
another famous breed for beef cattle is Red Angus
or Brama ,
If both balls(known as praire oysters) are removed and it becomes adult it is known as an Ox
the Cows for milk tend to be Freesian ,or guernsey
And Catalina you should have paid more attention in class
cows are female and cannot be castrated
that can only be done with bulls
you would get into a lot of trouble if ever you went to a ranch.

A steer is a bovine male that is raised for the beef on his body, and the steer won't sire any calves. A long horn is a species of bovine.

Nope, a Texas Longhorn is a breed of cattle like holsteins, angus, guernsey, charlois, brahma, etc.
When a cow (female name) has a calf it might be a heifer (girl) or a bull (male)....When the bull is castrated (neutered) it is then called a steer.
Now, all of this is NO BULL!
