Rice Krispie Marshmallow Treats Recipe
Ingredients
1/4 cup regular margarine or butter
1 6-10 oz. package regular marshmallows (about 40)
OR
4 cups miniature marshmallows
5 cups Kellogg's Rice Krispies cereal
What to do
Place a small lump of margarine into a paper towel and use to grease a 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan, then wipe the pan off with a dry paper towel. This will keep the bars from sticking to the pan when they are placed on it.
Measure margarine into 3-quart saucepan; melt over low heat. Add marshmallows and cook, stirring constantly, until marshmallows are melted and mixture is very syrupy. Remove from heat.
Add Rice Krispies cereal; stir until well-coated.
Spread warm mixture in the greased 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Using waxed paper or buttered spatula press firmly into an even layer. (I normally use a butter knife to do this; dipping the knife into a glass of water occasionally will keep the Rice Krispies from sticking to it as you shove them into the pan)
Cut into squares when cool. (This is normally about 10 minutes after placing the mixture into the pan.)
Results
24 2-inch square bars.
Other Ideas
Flavored marshmallows (usually the ones that are green, orange, etc.) may be used to change the taste of your Treats just enough that it will be noticeable.
For Christmas, consider using the red and green colored Rice Krispies that normally are sold around Christmastime, to give your bars that festive holiday appearance. :-)

I got this recipe straight from the kellogg's site. The link: http://www.ricekrispies.com/Display.aspx?recipe_id=1605&kic=1
The key, in my opinion, is using real butter. I have used this recipe many times, and always have good rice krispie treats. The site has several more recipes with variations; I haven't tried any of these yet.

Rice Crispy Treats
Ingredients
1/4 cup Butter
40 Big marshmallows or 1 small bag
5 cups Rice crispies
Preparation
Butter well a 9x13 pan. In a large microwave safe bowl, add marshmallows and butter. Microwave for a total of 1 1/2 minutes, stirring every 20-30 seconds so it doesn't burn. Add rice crispies and put in the pan.
* If you want something a little different, add a tablespoon or 2 of peanut butter with the marshmallows and butter. They are really good!

Ingredients
1 bar of milk chocolate
2 mugs of rice krispies.
Method
1: Melt the chocolate in either the microwave or over some boiling water on the oven ( if in the microwave keep a close eye on it as it melts very quickly and will then burn )
2:Add the rice krispies and mix in well until all is covered in chocolate. ( You may not need all the rice krispies or you may need more depending on the individual.)
3:Transfer to cake paper cases with a tsp, put in the fridge until hard.
4:Enjoy.
