When they have the advantage of air support, naval support and artillary support which make a big difference.. whether its iraq or vietnam America had/has the superiority of all three...
it doesn't take any courage to shoot someone from 200 yards away, or to shoot down at enemies from an attack helicopter while they shoot up at you with rusting ak-47 rifles
US soldiers drop bombs way before they lay a foot on the ground and after, which by the way is the cause of most civilian losses. US soldiers wear full body armor while the Iraqis defending their country wear old dirty rags.
it's like an ant trying to take down a bear, it hardly seems fair. people that work 2 jobs to get an education should be praised and called brave for not taking the easy road and signing up

if you have nothing to lose, like most uneducated and poor soldiers, then it's a choice between mcdonalds and the military. they don't have much to lose.

VERY TRUE! and 100% correct. I remember that from Somalia as well. When the Rangers were saying the entire city was down on us attacking us IT WAS ALL LIES. The Rangers were battling a member of the Somali clan militia called Habr Gidir, and they were NOT the entire city or Somalians. The Habr Gidir were using rusty AK's and RPGs. The Rangers and their Marines were using M-16's, bird chopers mounted with machine guns, copra attack helicopters, armored personal carriers, 50 cali. machine guns, YET they use the excuse that Somalians overwhelmed them. Give me a BREAK!, how about your overwhelming armor.
Same thing in Iraq.

there is some truth to what you are saying. Our military is so powerfull, you almost feel sorry for the enemy. I mean we can turn Iraq into a parking lot. But our leader will not let them do this instead they spend their time walking into landmines and ambushes.
As long as we have fools in washington running the show, you can call the soilder brave.
I work 2 jobs and go to school also. I also worked 60 to 90 hour a week in the navy. I was an ET, part of the navy elite.
People may hate you for what you say, but if all the people who say they support the troops spoke out, make be their family's would not have to go on welfare or live in poverty or get the benefits they were promised instead of being told that you should be proud that your country screwed you.
Why do people in the militarty have to be taken advantage of so we can be free.
Going to school does not make you wise. I spend my time in the middle east, so I have an idea of what they are going through.
P.S. Kissing my ***

Dude, you have no clue. Infantry men fight on the ground everyday without the help of air strikes, it doesn't make good PR when we drop a bomb in the middle of down town Baghdad. I don't know if I'd call it bravery or courage, but it does take some balls to go fight in a foreign land thousands of miles from home, not knowing when or where you'll be hit with an ied or motor round. What would you suggest we completely disregard our technology and superiority and fight them with the exact same weapons and techniques they have, just so we can say it was a fair fight?? You sit behind your computer and criticize soldiers who are ten times the man you'll ever be, how screwed up is that??

Well, it seems as though you and the person named Witheringdreams have no clue about our current military.!
Uneducated with no chances of employment on the outside? You are truly lost in your own little world. The U.S. military has a higher education level than the average American, don't take my word for it, just check out the stats on military education.
Fair? What was the old saying "All's fair in love and war". Why should we lose troops when we have the ability to take out our enemies at a distance? That's what war is all about....inflict the most damage on your enemy, while protecting your own assets as much as possible. And civilian losses......when did war start having 0 civilian deaths? Remember WWII? We bombed Germany's cities and turned them into giant fireballs. That's the entire concept of war, do more damage to your enemy than you receive.
Why not go to a local military town and meet some of the U.S.'s finest? You'll find that they are more intelligent than you give them credit for.

that's bull. What are you trying to do, just raise a rucus? Obviously, you don't know much about the military and the different branches. I am sure the soldiers, especially infantry, don't feel very brave most times but, guess what? ....They have you beat!
They don't wear full body armor either. The infantry doesn't drop bombs and can't always expect that support either. Why don't you go live over there since you are so brave?

And what about the people on the ground? You obviously have no clue as to what it is like, if it is so easy volunteer. You obviously have no clue as to what it takes, and what they are in instead of working two low paying jobs to get an education do what many others have done and put your life on the line for a free education. Easy road? Sorry put my life on the line to protect your freedom to say that as have soo many others. Obviously you are a spoiled little brat that has and does not know the price that is paid and has been paid by your fellow countrymen for the freedoms that you enjoy. Lets just hope they bring back the draft so you can learn what this country is all about and what is cost to be free. Let us also hope that it will be done without rich little mommy and daddy not having any say in who go. Can;t wait to see you there and see if your opinions are the same, although with your attitude, do not think you'll male it long, not because of the enemy

Yeah those 3700 men and women who died over seas weren't brave they took the easy root. Because we don't leave our families for months at a time. Those poor Iraqis may wear rags but they also wear explosive vests as well. Then they blow up their own people. Why don't you grow up and think about what you said. Every word that came out of your mouth was made possible by the blood of one of those people who took the easy root. When you have the courage to do what we do then you just give it a try. Until then Go thank a Vet!

I hope your not from america because..if you are you should pack your crap and go try to help the idiots (insurgents) you obviously know so little about then we can watch on TV as you get your head sawed off for being differant....
By the way i dont know about soldiers but ive seen marines drop guys at over 800 yards away with open sights so i guess thats kinda awsome huh.... better yet is getting a bunch in a building thats shooting at you and calling in a fixed wing and watching that place go down in a little million peices .... while we cheer.... hahahahahaahaha now thats fair .... these these people your defending care nothing about you or your ideas about them unlike most of us who dont give a rats A@@ about you too but we will die for you 8000 miles from home just so you can have the freedom to say smartazz little remarks like that..... go hug a tree you freakin yellow bellied coward....

You can thank those 'cowards' for the fact that you're not calling everyone 'Comrade' and standing in line for two hours to get a roll of toilet paper handed to you. The insurgents are very brave, by comparison, by setting remote control IED's and setting them off when a patrol comes by. Or do you consider the people who drive explosive laden vehicles into mess halls where people are eating to be brave? Or maybe you consider it brave to shoot at someone from inside a church or from behind a group of women and children? Tell you what, why don't you just quit your two jobs and go on over there and join those 'brave' insurgents so they can take care of you and provide financial aid for your education, like I'm pretty sure you're already receiving? You have no earthly clue how war is waged. You obviously also have no clue about what integrity and honor are, either. You exist under the blanket of security they provide and you show your gratitude by attacking the bravery of the people that are willing to die so you can bad mouth them. If this answer offends you, and I hope it does, maybe you'll no longer feel like asking things you don't want to hear.

EASY?????????? You think being in the military is easy???? Wow, I hope your not one of those guys who worked 2 jobs to go to college, boy did you waste your money!!! You have no concept of how hard these people work, even when they are not sent to Iraq or where ever! My husband works 12 hours a day, is on call 24 hours a day and never gets a holiday!!! While jerks like you are walking around being able to do whatever you want whenever you want because my husband and countless others are fighting with their very lives so you can talk crap about the very people who keep your head attached to your stupid shoulders!!!!!
If you really think it's so easy, go join the marines, they'll be easy on you I'm sure. :)
On a side note, you should change your screen name, you are anything but a "nice guy."

You just don't get it. Becoming a soldier is a sacrifice in it self you give your self, your body to fight for your country or someone Else's. I think it's great that they have some protection but not all have. They don't know from one day to the next if they will be going back to there loved ones or never seeing them again yet they still do there Job.
There is nothing easy about the military not the life or the pay.
Why don't you get to know some soldiers instead of criticizing them.
