No, there's no proof that we came from bacteria, but there's *plenty* of DNA and other molecular evidence that we share a *common ancestor*. Much further back than the monkeys, of course.
*drink*
Remember that term, "common ancestor." Repeat. Common ancestor. Say it often; it'll help relieve the impression you give that you don't know what the hell you're talking about. Common ancestor. Common ancestor.
> what makes atheists think we come from them?
Correcting for your misunderstanding, we trust scientists with real evidence more than we trust creationists who think that faith is a valid epistemological paradigm.
> there isnt any proof. evolution is false.
Well, if you don't look beyond your apologetics Web sites, OF COURSE you won't find any "proof." Or i should say "evidence," since "proof" is a red herring. But their failure and/or stubborn refusal to see the evidence doesn't mean that there isn't any.
> how come bacteria isnt evovling anymore?
*drink-a-dink*
This is a BIOLOGY question, not a R&S question, but i'll give it a shot.
Bacteria *are* evolving as you write, and they're evolving damn quickly. Remember the guy who flew on the plane with TB? That was an evolved strain of the pathogen. Bacterial evolution is the reason that the drug labs keep having to develop new antibiotics.
If your question is how come they're not evolving into, say, people (or, the artificial distinction, invented by creationists, between "micro-" and "macroevolution"), the answer is twofold:
1) Evolution is not goal-oriented. (Theistic evolutionists may consider man the pinnacle of creation, but that would be God's goal, not evolution's.)
2) The evolution of ancient pre-eukaryotic organisms into humans took on the order of 2 billion years. You're not going to see that kind of change in a measley 100 years or so.
Good heavens, wikisidr! You brought up all the clichéd issues that i anticipated while i was composing my answer. The answers that you're rejecting *are* the correct answers. If you're just going to reject them out of hand, then why did you waste our time asking the question???
The smug tone in your Additional Details suggests that you "knew" ahead of time that you were right and we're wrong. I'd suspect that your purpose was to thrust your God-given superiority in our faces, but that would be too cynical...

what makes christians think we come from god? there isnt any proof. religion is false.
how come god isn't real anymore?
first off your dumb, if you have never heard doctors concerns about overusing antibiotics your just a noob a life, for cereal. when you get prescribed an antibiotic your doctor tells you to take it every so often, and he also tells you its very important to do so. the reason why is that if you introduce small amounts of antibiotics to bacteria some of it will die, but then some will start forming a resistance, so you need to take the full dose every so often to kill the bacteria fast, and efficiently. also this is the way smallpox was eradicated. a small amount of smallpox was introduced through an innoculation. the patients immune system would fight of the small infection and form antibodies therefore evolving to fight off smallpox

Recent developments in ion microprobes and Laser-Raman imagery have been used to determine the carbon isotopic composition of microscopic fossils and analyze their physiologies, and reveal an immense early fossil record with a microbe-dominated evolutionary progression that stretches almost 3 billion years into the past.
The genetic and anatomical study of these fossils shows an evolutionary history from multi-cellular animals back through single-celled protozoans through to bacteria.
And bacteria are constantly evolving today. There are millions, perhaps billions of different species of bacteria, outnumbering all of the other organisms on the planet.
The fact that there are now antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria is proof that bacteria are still evolving.
UPDATE: So you are actually saying that drug-resistant bacteria strains don't exist?? Wow, that's all kinds of self-deception to maintain your delusional world view there.

You are an awfully catty girl. If you want to ask a sincere question, do it sincerely. What does being an atheist have to do with believing in evolution? I could argue that there isn't any proof of God, therefore he is false according to your logic, but since your mind is already made up without doing research, what's the point? Bacteria does evolve, it's why they have to constantly find new drugs in order to fight disease.

Bacteria isn't evolving anymore?
What about the drug resistance bacterias that have evolved since humans began using antibiotics..
There is no proof we didn't come from bacteria..
Please tell me you are or were home schooled because if you learned these ideas from a public school I mourn for the state of our educatioal systems..
You asked "how come bacteria isnt evovling anymore? " No mention of monkeys etc. It's right up there in black and white..
Wear your helmet, it's for your own protection..

It's a complicated question. There is now proof that evolution works (I just devised such a proof last night, in response to another YA questioner). But that proof does not address the specifics of the evolutionary path, which still needs evidence to fully demonstrate. To see the current state of the evidence, see the reference.

Many people accept evolution as the truth, not just Atheists.
No one, however, thinks that evolution means people came from bacteria. What a silly idea.

I'm not sure were we came from but saying gawd did it is just a cop out answer instead of actually putting in time and effort to search for the real answer. Oh and btw bacteria is always evolving. Have you ever wonder why penicillin looses effectiveness after over using it.
the great one: saying we came from mud is just you not understanding abiogenesis. Furthermore comparing humans to a big screen tv is just as faulty since a big screen tv cannot reproduce.

Look at any part of your body through a powerful microscope. You will find your answer there. You think atheists are just ignorant people who refuse god because they want to live a life without accountability to any higher power.
I was a Christian myself. I know how things appear to be something they are not. I know what it's like to be delusional and believe in things that make no sense. I know what it's like to feel stressed when you must make excuses for god. I know how it feels to create your own irrational explanations for things that even a monkey knows are total B.S.
If you truly opened your mind the truth would set you free.

I would like to point out that contrary to popular belief, not all atheists subscribe to that theory.
Regards,
The Peaceful Atheist.
EDIT: I respectfully re-direct the 'blah blah blah' comment to you.
And BTW...while I might not believe we all came from bacteria, only a fool would deny that bacteria are micro-evolving in ways that make them resistant to antibiotics.
