The stereo was stolen from my Daewoo Matiz yesterday. I bought a new one today and had problems connecting it. I went along to Halford and the fitter there had to join the yellow and red wires together to get any power to the stereo. After driving home and switching off the engine, I've noticed that the stereo loses it's memory i.e. the clock loses the time and station presets aren't saved. In addition to this i've now noticed that the interior light is no longer working. The stereo is a Sony CDXGT111 CD Tuner.

Any suggestions ???

If you paid for the installation, you have valid cause to complain to the management. No competent professional installer would done what yours did in your vehicle.

Here's what's going on: every car radio has a power source that's switched on and off with the key, and another that's always on regardless of key position. Often the power circuits are shared with other vehicle systems; ie, the constant power source may share a fuse with the dome light or clock. Your radio depends on a constant power connection so that it doesn't lose the radio preset and clock settings when the key is switched off.

What happened was that your installer managed to blow your constant power fuse while working on the wiring. This fuse supplied the clock, dome light, and constant radio power. Strike one was that he blew the fuse. Strike two was that when he couldn't find a working constant power wire, he just connected both of the radio's power inputs to the switched power wire. Strike three was that he didn't test the vehicle systems or radio for proper operation before he turned the vehicle back over to you.

Replacing the fuse should solve the dome light and clock problems, but the radio will need to be re-wired (preferably by a different installer) before it will work properly.

there is a blown fuse. you also need to hook up the stereo up correctly. the yellow wire is not correct. you will need to match ther colors up in the harness. if this is aftermarket stero then you need to purchase a instalation kit that matches the car type and year model. the yellow wire stays hot at all times as this is for your memory . the red is for your car on and off power source.

check your fuse for interior lights. red wire is is non constant power -ignition switch applies pwer for when you turn car on. Yellow should have constant power -battery -which will keep all your settings. orange- is for dash lights. he probably put power from another source to your interior lights and blew a fuse

looks such as you've energized a floor cord. i could double verify the wiring. Do you have the wiring diagram for you the wonderful option year and kind? If all else fails take it to a professional and pay them 40 5-60 greenbacks for the deploy. then you definitely comprehend it's going to be accomplished top, the 1st time.

Yeah. Check your fuses. Your radio uses two "positive" wires. one switched and one that is always "live". It looks like the "live" one is not active.
