Hi does anyone have any thoughts or advice on the best way to install a wood floor above a basement sound studio in regards to keeping the sound from upstairs from traveling downstaires and vice versa??? I've heard of cork but have never worked with it. I've also heard of Mass loaded vinly but havne't worked with it either. Has any one worked with it?
Thanks,
Jen

Have a look at the links for ideas. I have used the RSIC approach and it worked well. Note their site (see "RSIC assemblies by performance") includes details for various combinations of material with the resulting sound transmission class (STC) ratings. Values of over 80 db sound difference can be achieved with concrete floors ... although 60 db or so is more typical with a wood floor.

I have not used Green Glue, but it should work almost as well as RSIC's and in some applications may be easier.

Have a look around the sites at the links and I expect you will find information you need to achieve what you need to tame the sound.
