I've looked around for websites to download it from, but all I get is 'turn on automatic updates and it will download automatically'. This is no good to me because Auto updates dont seem to be working for me. Yes, they are turned on, they just never pop up. What I am asking is does anyone know where I can download the latest version of Windows Movie Maker (or any version which can take screencaps) DIRECTLY - not through automatic updates or anything like that. Thanks in advance.

Try the following...
Start
control panel
Add/Remove Programs
select Add New Programs,--click on cd/floppy
and you should be able to use your windows installation cd to select and download the windows movie maker.

Start> Settings> Control Panel > Add or remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows Components(button)
NOTE:You may need the disk to do this

go to www.microsoft.com ant type in windows movie maker. or use google and goggle download windows movie maker
