I live in Wisconsin and I found berries growing on a tree that look like rasberries. They look edible and normal. My friend ate 4 of them and I didn't even eat one(I tasted it though).

Are they poisonous?

Thank you very much! =)

The purpose of berries is to grow new plants that those berries come from. Didnt you take biology. And if the berries will sprout new plants, then God's plan is working. Geez, I hope that isnt too complicated for you.

Best thing to do is take a leaf or a branch to a local nursery, they will be able to recognize the tree and tell you if the berries are edible.

Rule of thumb is , if they are bitter to taste , better to not eat them. If you see birds eating them they will be alright. Your friend would have known in a short time if they were poisonous.

Did your friend get sick or die? If not, they're OK.

My motto is, if I don't know what it is, I don't touch or eat it.
