In this generation and hopefully more so in the next...
are we on the verge of spiritual bonding ?

I have seen it on a small scale here on R&S recently
people uniting against bigotry
people from every walk of life , every belief system...
do you feel something is happening ?
do you feel it is only a matter of time before it becomes global ?

us against them ... love against hate .... leaving differences behind ?

I see more and more of it on here, if we can do it here we can do it every where.

People will see the common thread uniting all spiritual paths.
They will see that all gods are manifestations of and interpretations of the same divine being. Fundies won't change overnight but forums like this can help open minds. And the word shall walk among us again, his spirit never left. Aquarius is about people not giving their power over to institutions anymore but being their own priests. Now all can experience the spirit and interpret gods word. God didn't stop talking after the scriptures were written, (s)he speaks through nature. We can share that guidance. In 2013 the seeming incompatibilities of different belief systems will seem childish in the face of the unity that shall bring us all together.

Things are changing and some old ideas are no longer acceptable. With better communications people are getting to know each other better and discovering that we have more in common than separates us. But, there will always be something to argue about and so we aren't on the verge of something big.

Even you, Pangel, captured the essence of the problem. Even as you hoped you were identifying something big.

You said us against them. Against them. Identifying yourself and people of a similar viewpoint as a separate group from them - presumably those who propagate hate? Even as you wanted to leave differences behind, you identified a difference.

That's the problem, differences. There will always, and should always, be differences and whilst there are, not matter how small, people will argue and fight about them.

Human nature alone, being what it is, makes any spiritual bonding absolutely impossible. There's good and bad in every race and religion; That's probably what you are looking at here from time to time. If there were more people like you, perhaps, the world would be a different and better place. For now, we can only live in hope:)

I suspect we are on the verge of something, although whether it will be good or bad is yet to be seen.

Personally, I wouldn't be terribly surprised if the world was sort of "united" soon. However, I would guess it will be in the form of implanted chips that allow our brains to interact directly with the internet and with each other. Sort of like built-in cell phones/internet connections.

I'm not sure what spiritual implications would arise from such a system.

However, with global warming, we might also be on the verge of the collapse of a large part of the world's infrastructure. The chaos and hardships arising from such a thing would probably be more likely to prevent, or reverse, any unification of humanity.

I think so; as scientific evidence is booming more and more it seems as though science could somehow collaborate with certain aspects of spirituality such as reincarnation.
Since energy never seems to disappear thus it should seem reasonable to think that your concious does not just disappear anymore either. Even with Christianity if you watch specials or purchase them from the history channel they are benefitcial to proving Jesus was indeed real. Some people are starting to have more than one religon coexist in their lives

"Big" happens in itty bitty pieces. Even something the size of Mt. Everest is built upon itty bitty little subatomic particles. So, this "verge" may last a very long time, but I do agree that something is happening. It happens one person at a time, one connection at a time, one bit of acceptance and tolerance and hope at a time.

I hope so. But judging by some of the answers above, a few will be left behind. Thankfuly, small-mindedness is at least easy to spot.

No, my dear, I think there is much evil still in the world. There is still much to do to prevent evil from prevailing. Much to do.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Lets see, the Shias and Sunnis are still killing each other - Jews and Muslims just can't get along, Palestinians can't decide which terror group they prefer, the Supreme Court is moving backwards, the Taliban is getting rich on heroin, and you see progress? Hey, where's the love?
