How can I get over this vanity of mine?

SOOO... I met this guy at a camp and we are now in a long distance realtionship. He is a really great guy, but I am very very vain. He is not like totally hot, but he's not ugly either! yeah, before anyone says it, i'm just RUDE. i'm 16 and he's 17. But he is sooo sweet. so i am supposed to go and visit him in a couple of weeks, but i keep thinking "he doesn't LOOK like a guy that i should date" u know? i really like him though, but the vainness keeps getting in the way. what can i do to overcome that?

i dont wanna be mean because i am not a mean person however i am an honest person and i will say this...honey! look in the mirror im sure youre beautiful BUT YOURE NOT PERFECT. a real girl isint perfect and a perfect girl isint real. get over yourself and if you truly like this guy give him a chance otherwise dont lead him on thats low, mean and greedy and you could be pulling away from someone who could meet him and love him for exactly who he is. on another note your 16.....who cares youre gonna have 20 boyfriends by the time you get married and are ready to settle down so dont sweat the small stuff.

ask him to take you to a movie or a pool hall, somewhere where it's dark so you don't have to worry what others think. but in all honesty, once you get out of high school, what you worry about now won't be important anymore. for all you know, after high school, he could turn into a total stud. if you are as hot as you let on, and he's not, he'll work at improving himself worrying he may lose you. he'll goto the gym and work out and all that

Nothing is wrong with vanity. I don't date avg looking women because I think exactly the same thing. Even if they have a nice personality, it's best to get someone you think matches you look-wise. At least that's my opinion.
