i keep getting an error message load when i try to use msn.
GAIM came as part of my download of portable apps suite.
and i havent downloaded or messed around with anything other than how GAIM came on that.
can some one please tell me step by step how to get msn working? (using a hotmail.co.uk account)
i am new to portable software and other instant messaging clients so im sorry if im missing something obvious :D

Will pidgin work Better then? or is that just a new name?

Pidgin is Gaim - just the latest stable release with a new name, the name change was brought about due to AOL and their AIM messenger.
There was an issue with a previous release of Gaim where it was unable to authenticate / connect to the MSN server and log in. That was fixed in a release of gaim about 2 months prior to the name change.
In short - getting the new version from http://www.pidgin.im should rectify your problem.
I personally wouldnt recommend msn - sorry

GAIM has been renamed to Pidgin. Google for it and get the latest version.
